New Fire In RimforestUpdate 10:49 AM A fire has been reported in Rimforest near Scenic and Valley View. The fire is about 1/2 acre with a slow rate of spread. There is no immediate structure threat. The fire appears to be inside the area of Sunday's fire. Rimforest is roughly 9 miles from us.  I just heard the fire engines dispatch to this fire.  Our resources seem spread a little thin right now.  In the last blog post there was information that people are still at their homes in Grass Valley, watching them burn and calling dispatch. Please, everyone pray for these people who are standing in the midst of this destruction.Thank you.

Update: 9:14 AM Air command has begun discussing using the DC-10 tanker to make high altitude drops from about 300 feet above the targets. Due to the high winds, I hope that these drops will work.  I was watching the news yesterday and in Malibu you could see the wind whip away the water/retardant before it had a chance to hit.You can also listen to www.bigbearscanner.com for live updates from the firemen themselves.  Amy

Good morning to all!Well the dreaded Santanas (or as most people know them as the Santa Ana Winds) have struck SO Cal in a major way.  We have numerous fires going on the mountain.  The fire in Devore I heard was pretty much contained last night, which started when a vehicle fire caught the surrounding vegetation and then started spreading through Devore and shut down the 15 freeway. We had another fire reported at Highwyay 18 by the Edison storage yard, very close to Crestline, but nothing else came of that, so I believe it was a false report.A fire started last night at Grass Valley Lake, which they did get out, but as of this morning it has started back up in an inaccessible area. These are the alerts from rimoftheworld.net, which most of the site has been shut down due to excessive t...

Good morning!  I hope that everyone had a great weekend and a fabulous Monday. It is beautiful warm and sunny day here in Crestline. I heard down the hill today is overcast and foggy.  Beautiful fall day(check out my pictures of fall colors at www.crestlinehomeforsale.com).I hope that when you are counseling your clients to put in an offer on a home that you are asking for a home warranty from the seller.  In fact, I think that it should be insisted on in the offer, and not allowed to be countered out.  At the very least, make sure your buyers are getting one on their home.  It is nearly priceless to have when some unexpected problem crops up with the home in the first week or two after they move in.I am sharing my own personal experience with having a home warranty on the Crestline cab...

In case many of you couldn't tell, I love to take pictures, especiall of Crestline and Lake Gregory.  I don't even have a great camera(which another escrow should rectify, if I can talk my husband into it...)but it takes some great pictures occasionally.  Here for your viewing pleasure, Fall in Crestline. These misty mountain pics were taken from the yard of my listing on Scenic View drive in Arrowhead Highlands.  I love the views from this house.  It is such a perfect spot.  Anyone interested in purchasing it?On the way out of Scenic View, I saw this maple that is turning colors.  I love maples.  I don't know what kind it is, but it is gorgeous! This picture is gorgeous with the dew drops from the mist clinging to the needles and with the maple in the background.  There is a special feat...

Hello all!  Just thought I'd share these gorgeous pictures that I took today while driving across the Rim.  Fall is finally here!  We have a winter storm that is working it's way to us, and have already had some rain.  The rain was a God-send because of the fire in Big Bear and the dry spring we had. The leaves are turning colors and the weather is cool, 50's during the day, 40s during the evening.  I have had to rush around to all of my listings and start winterizing.  All of my listings except for one are vacant, so that's a lot of water shutoffs and draining! So here are these gorgeous pics. This is why we live here!

Good afternoon to all!  Hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend.  It is my anniversary on Tues, and we went to Seaport Village in San Diego for the day on Friday.  It was such a gorgeous day!  I would download pictures but, alas, I left my camera at my in-laws...Today is a gorgeous Monday here in beautiful Crestline.  The sky is blue, Lake Gregory is crisp and clear, the sun is shining and there's a great breeze.  We were hoping for some of that Hurricaine Dean rain, but it didn't manage to make it up here.  We were down in Escondido and Temecula, and it was a downpour of an hour and a half!  Crestline needs that rain!  It has been such a dry year this year.  We didn't get much snow or hardly any rain in the springtime.  They could do an episode of We Live Here up here in Crestline!So...

In one of my earlier posts I mentioned that I had to clean a couple of my Crestline listings.  So it got me thinking, how many other Realtors really go out there on a limb and clean their own listings to get them to show better?  In this case, I live in the mountains, and we get spiders like crazy.  They love to work overtime to build their little insect catchers, which then catch dust and become ugly little patches on a home.  So I go out with my little broom and knock them down, sweep the stoop (or 100 feet of decking in another case) free of dirt and leaves.  I have dusted listings that needed it (and no they were not all vacant).  In one listing for another agent in my office, I dusted the window sills because they were right in the entryway full of dark dirt and dust that accumulat...

Good afternoon!  Hope everyone is having a great day. I have floor time again, and just got done with sweeping 2 of my listings.  It seems in the mountains the spiders build up new homes for themselves on a nightly basis, rather than reuse or recycle one that was already there.  And the powder-fine dirt we have up here sure does like to collect rather quickly. Why was I sweeping my listings you may be asking? Just something I thought would be nice for my vacant listings so they show better.  A note to you agents out there:  when you take a listing, look at the front doorway and get out a broom if your clients haven't done so and sweep off the cobwebs.  Instantly the home will look better, rather than a haunted house that time forgot. Just a thought... :)I came across this on yahoo earlie...

Good Morning all, hope that your Saturday is faster paced and more busy than mine.  I've got floor time, and have to meet with an appraiser on a home I have in escrow, and then I get to go poolside in Escondido.  Oh, and help my husband plants some trees for his mom. I think I can manage that, since their home is a mini resort with a pool, spa, lanai with gas firepit, tv, music and just generally a great relaxing tropical atmosphere.  So I am going to update us all on the market in Crestline/Lake Gregory for the month of May.  It was a little slow sales wise, being that it just started warming up in May, with a weekend of cold and fog, but all other days were gorgeous.                                                      Active Listings Inputted in May into Paragon and MRMLS71 New listi...

I was on caravan with my broker and another agent in our office, and since there are parts of the mountains they've been raving about that I've not been to see as of yet, we went off the beaten path and checked out some gorgeous places.  The agent was telling me that there are strange places on this mountain, one which she's been chased out of, as her curiosity got the best of her.  A temple with a golden dome like what would be seen in India is out in the middle of the forest above Lake Silverwood.  So we set out so that I could see what they were talking about. As it happens, there are some strange things in the mountains.  Roads with large ornate gates that bar the way, the road ending at its feet and nature taking back over.  Parcels of property that have no signs but of the previou...

Hello All,As I posted before, the 2007 Garden Tour in Crestline was this last weekend.  I have been busy and wasn't able to get my pics downloaded before now.  WOW!That's all I can say, and inspirational.  There were 6 gardens on tour, and they were amazing.  I took some great photos.  Being an aspiring photographer in addition to selling real estate, I was surprised that my camera and it's operator took some of these photos you're about to see.  The weather was perfect, and it truly was a fabulous day spent outside amongst gorgeous flowers and trees and water features (yes, you can have a koi pond in the mountains!) Maybe this will inspire others to build their own bit of mountain paradise, because it has for me.  Anyone want to move up here, you know a great Realtor! I recommend comin...
