Blue Goose Park is an exciting new park in Brentwood. It is an excellent place for toddlers to pre-teens and families. Blue Goose Park is on the corner or O’Hara and Adams. The park has a farm theme. This is a very large park with a large grassy area good for playing games, flying a kite, or a nice picnic. Then of course there are the mandatory play structures which every kid wants. This park has two play structures for general climbing and sliding; one for older kids and one for younger kids, although my 20 month old son enjoyed the older kids one just fine. There is more, the park has a giant spider web of climbing ropes that is becoming popular in the newer parks. There is a man made rock so the aspiring rock climber can hone his skills. For those of us who remember simpler times t...

It's time for the Blue Pumpkins. We are a family that likes pumpkin.  A little Pumpkin can go a long way.  But the best pumpkins for eating are not the Orange ones you get for decoration.  The best Pumpkins for eating are Blue Pumpkins.  There are all sorts of Pumpkins, Red, White, Blue (very American type food), and even Orange.  There may be more I am unaware of. The Blue Pumpkin actually looks kind of gray, but who wants a gray pumpkin?  The Blues have more meat than all the rest. My wife gets the Pumpkins and slices them in quarters, cooks them in the oven, scraps out the meat, purees it in the food processor and freezes it. There is nothing better than a true homemade pumpkin pie, but we also have pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin fritters, pumpkin soup (several...

My Game is Advanced Squad Leader.  Many people ask me about my hobbies and when I tell them I like to play strategy games they do not quite get it, but giving them more detail really gets them confused. Many Many moons ago in the 70's when I was 12 my friend bought a few games by a company called the Avalon Hill Game Company.  Like most boys we had always played army or war games of one sort or another, but here were military games played on cardboard game maps with counters to represent varies military units, dice and rules.  Well no more making it up as we went along or throwing marbles at toy soldiers back and forth across the floor.  This was cool and had a cool feel with cool graphics.  The first game we played and one that remained my favorite for years was PanzerBlitz, featuring ...

Liberty Lions 2014 Scholarship Awards Program Last night I attended the Liberty Lions Scholarship awards here in Brentwood California. Graduating Students were given Scholarship and Financial Awards to help them with their post high school education, but it college or some other training. There were a lot of awards and it lasted about 2 hours. But I was very moved and excited for the kids. A total of $194,000.00 was awarded to a number of students. The awards ranged from $150.00 all the way up to $11,000.00. The vast majority of the awards were for under $1,000.00, however, it was not the size of the awards that made some of the awards special. Many of the awards were sponsored by civic groups, local businesses, endowments from past graduating classes, others for particular sports, arti...

How Fast Are Brentwood California Homes Selling? Very Fast!  I have been writing for some time on how fast homes are moving in this market; especially the lower end of the market. The California Association of Realtors (CAR) notes this is a statewide trend and has provided this Infographic:   Things are not slowing up in 2014, in fact the market may be moving up even faster.  The low end of the market is being snatched up as people look for bargains.  The high end is also moving up, but is driven by the lower end.  This is happenning across all the markets in Contra Costa County and I suspect most every where in the state. If you are looking to buy a Home now is the time while interest rates are still low and before prices go up more.  If you are considering Selling we can provide you w...

The Easter Debt Some 34 years ago I realized that something was wrong with me. I was not that good, not good at all. In fact I realized that deep down my disposition was towards evil and self centered. I also saw that my life was being drawn in the wrong direction. In the old days they would have called it sin. Now on the surface many would assume I was quite the guy. I was an Eagle Scout and going to College. I worked hard, but sin was still there and growing. I started going to a church with a friend of mine. I figured if I hung out with good people I would be a good person. What I found at church is a bunch of people like me; struggling with how to live and issues in their lives. But most had more peace in their lives than I had in mine. I also began to see that they really believed ...

One Key to Rule Them All! OK, if you do not get the reference you need to see The Lord of The Rings again. When I bought my first home it was a condominium and long before I was a REALTOR. After a while I found myself serving on the board and being on the board I was given a key to the club house and such. I put it on my key ring with my house key and such. Many of the keys looked the same. After a while I realized that my club house key was also opening my unit and the pool gate for me. Then I went to some vacant units and found that the key worked on those units as well. I tried my house key to see if it worked on the vacant units; it did not.   I brought the situation to the HOA Board. It was assumed that this was a master key the builder had used; we could not locate other keys that...
