Good Morning! Well we finally got a good dump of fresh snow up here about 9 days ago and the resort has been reaping the benefits of that ever since. Unfortunately, for the time being it's looking like we're in another dry spell at least for the next week but at least the rocks are covered and both mountains have sufficient coverage to get you around to anywhere you want to ski. As is typical in the real estate market cycles for Whistler, we're in our slightly slower post-Christmas period at the moment with less property typically being sold in the time between Christmas and about the 3rd week of January. Personally, I'm just starting to see my sales activity pick back up with both buyers and sellers starting to pick up the phone and set appointments with me to go on property tours or c... 01/20/2014

Good Morning and Happy New Year! I had the chance to take some solid time off with family over the past 2 weeks and it was wonderful. I worked a little bit but mostly hung out with my wife, my boys and the dog and we went up the mountain skiing quite a bit. Despite the media's doom and gloom regarding the ski conditions, the snow is actually pretty good up there and the 27 cms we received last Thursday/Friday was a big help. There's more on the way this week too and with temperatures nice and cold at the moment, Whistler Blackcomb is doing a great job of pumping out the man-made stuff as well. I'm not worried too much about the conditions, it's great skiing on the groomers and the snow's coming. It always does eventually. Search current inventory of condos for sale at The Delta Whistler Village Suites in Whistler Village A Long Awaited Hotel Renovation The Delta Whistler Village Suites is a Phase 2 restricted condo in Whistler Village that's been in dire need of room upgrades for several years now and it's on it's way in 2014. By no means is it currently shabby but all hotels need a good freshening up as time goes by and it seems in Whistler this can be expected to happen every 5 to 10 years at least. With the Delta Whistler Village Suites having been constructed in 1996 it's long past due for this building. Real Estate Prices in Whistler BC for November 2013 Real estate market data for Whistler, BC provided by Dean Linnell of The Whistler Real Estate Company Ltd.   Whistler Real Estate Prices   It's not news that real estate prices in Whistler have been on the decline since the highs of 2007. However, that slide has been quietly arrested as of last year around this time in the general real estate market (see chart below). The market now is much improved with listing inventory down to levels we've not seen since 2006/2007 (see chart below). Good Morning! This past weekend, Blackcomb opened up giving us two full mountains to choose from. Conditions remain a bit on the sketchy side as it's still early season but it looks like we've got some colder weather in the alpine forecast for Whistler. I haven't been up the mountain yet but will likely head up with my boys next weekend if we get any snow this week at all. I usually don't dust off the boards until the first or second week of December unless it's exceptional early season conditions. Good Morning! Just last week I flew out to Chicago to speak at a realtor conference of several hundred agents from across the U.S. and Canada. The main topic of my particular session was to discuss some of the unique marketing strategies that I employ in the Whistler resort real estate market. It was also a really fun opportunity to meet a wide spectrum of agents who work everywhere from Washington DC to Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee, Colorado and even L.A.. I have to say that my most eye-opening discussions were with a father & son realtor team from Detroit. That market was the canary in the coal mine and was hit first in the economic meltdown back in 2005.  It has finally started to recover though. I had the good fortune last week to be able to go for a helicopter ride up to the Ipsoot Glacier high above Pemberton. Pretty awesome ride and one of my main reasons was to be able to get a good look from above to see the land where the new Tiyata Village neighbourhood will be located. I thought I would put together a new weekly blog piece with some of my personal insights about interesting or noteworthy properties I see each week on our Whistler Tuesday Realtor Tour. Like in many towns and cities across North America, realtors on a weekly basis go out on a "caravan" tour to see all the newest listings in the market. It's a great way for all of us as professionals to have a closer look at what's new on the market. We awoke to a good amount of fresh snow here in Whistler valley, and with the American Thanksgiving long weekend upon us, both Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains are open.The past 2 weeks brought 29 new listings, 24 Price changes and 26 completed sales in the Whistler real estate market. Hello from Whistler,For those of us in this neck of the woods, this weekend brings with it two joyous occasions; Thanksgiving and the Turkey Sale. For those who are wondering, the Turkey Sale is a weekend sale here in Whistler of all things equipment related to skiing and snowboarding.
