I Am Thankful My Mum Taught Me To Bake and Cook. When I was a young boy(only child) I would be watching and trying to help Mum. I loved watching and helping her bake Cakes and Cookies I would get the batter bowl to lick when the cookie or cake mix headed into the oven...the finished product usually ended up in my school lunches. My Mum was a nurse in a logging camp when you first came to Canada. Not a lot for Nurses to do all day, so she learned to cook and bake for 200 loggers every morning. I remember her telling me they baked 200 cookies each day along with 100's of sandwiches . Each logger loaded their lunch kit with sandwiches and cookies when they headed out for a day in the woods logging. As a result of my Mum's keen interesting in cooking, she loved to try new recipes. One of my fa...

I'm thankful we took the Trip To Maui for a break this Month. We left on Nov 1 and returned on the Red Eye at 11:30pm and arrived home on the morning of Nov 10th.Every Morning I got up at 6:30 for a sunrise walk along the Bach in Maui. The Ocean at that time of day is warmer than the beach sand, so I tried waking through the water. I usually walked along the beach for about 1/2 hour each morning, then back for coffee. The photo is one of the many stunning Sunsets we witnessed while in Maui.I'm thankful we took the Trip To Maui for a break this Month.

Victoria BC-Property August Sales Continue Record Breaking PaceSeptember 1 2016, Victoria, BC. A total of 883 properties sold in the Victoria Real Estate Board region this August, an increase of 19.2 per cent compared to the 741 properties sold in August last year. “August is a record breaker in more than one way. For the sixth consecutive month, we have a sales record with more sales than any other month of August on record,” says Mike Nugent, 2016 President of the Board. “We also have the lowest number of listings available for sale in an August than we’ve seen in the last twenty years. HOME WIRING The type of wiring in residential homes generally depends on when the home was built, where it was built and if it has been updated. In the older homes, knob and tube type wiring was the norm, replaced later by plastic-sheathed wiring. In most cases the newer plastic-sheathed wiring is copper, insulated with plastic and then wrapped with insulation and another layer of plastic for protection. Breaker boxes are another story; sometimes a well-meaning home owner can inadvertently make things unsafe. It is always wise to consult a reputable home inspector and even an electrician before you buy. A little homework today can save you a lot of money down the road. more on home wiring is available here. Source:HOME WIRING

EIGHT INSIDER TIPS FOR VICTORIA BC HOME BUYERS1. Be a Pre-Approved Buyer: A pre-approved buyer always has the advantage in an offer situation. Becoming pre-approved is very easy: you complete your loan application with a credit check prior to beginning your home search process. Pre-approval means that you have actually been approved for the purchase by a lender, which gives you the edge in home purchase negotiating.2. Beat The Competition to The Best New Listings: The search process can be both fun and trying. You will notice that some homes sell very fast and others hang around for long periods of time. The best homes at the best prices sell fast. Keeping on top of this is essential. Connect with a professional Real Estate agent that knows the market and keeps you updated.3. Do The Res...
