Several years ago an amazing transformation of the former CFB  military base started taking place turning this community into the vibrant 153-acre residential community of Garrison Crossing.  This has been part of a multi-year community redevelopment plan, with the goal of building a walkable community that compliments the charm and the ambience of the former base.  With its narrow, winding roads and majestic trees, when complete, Garrison Crossing will feature 1,800 homes encompassing both new homes and restored military homes.           Garrison Crossing is a pedestrian-friendly, environmentally aware community that was meticulously planned by a team of British Columbia's leading architects, designers, engineers and builders. Garrison Crossing features lots of green space and homes th...

A Walk in The Park .... Just a couple of hundred yards away I'm fortunate enough to have 5 hectares of park and pond right in my back yard!   Not only does it have a perfect walking/jogging trail.........The Mute Swans live in the park year round Park gives a wonderful view and insight into the different species of wild fowl that make this their home.   The Mute Swans live in the park year round.                                     These are different from the indigenous Trumpeter Swans, in that they were imported to our country many years ago, and have made Canada their permanent home. The park is also a winter sanctuary for many species of wild fowl that do not stay for the summer.     The pond is stocked with trout twice a year by the Ministry of Fisheries. Children under 16 years an...

How times they are a changing!  I recently posted a blog giving an overview of the history of Garrison and Vedder Crossing Crossing and and the former location of the Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack. One of the areas that has been newly developed on the Former CFB grounds is the Canada Education Park. So this is what they done so far.  The City has joined with the University College of the Fraser Valley, the Justice Institute of BC and the provincial government to redevelop lands at the former Canadian Forces Base Chilliwack into an education and research park. The project arose as a result of  the successful purchas...

Some interesting Sales Statistics For Chilliwack - For the Month of April - 2008 AND Comparisons to the April 2007 Market The market definitely has shifted - perhaps not as dramatically in terms of pricing - but definitely in terms of listings on the market.  Many would say that the market has become a 'Buyer's Market'...for the first time in years.........And in some ways it has - there's certainly the inventory ! Supply and Demand truly dictates the market -not only in terms of pricing, but how long homes are on the market...the whole buying process can take longer - simple because Buyers have more to choose from and there's not the same sense of Urgency. Some Sellers are having a hard timing adjusting to the fact that prices aren't going up at the pace they were just a few months ago...

Ok I'm going to step outside my comfort zone....I'm thinking I'm going to acknowledge myself ! Also wondering when is an A/R Newbie no longer a Newbie?    Is there like a Teenage Active Rainer? Well out of 535 British Columbian Active Rainers - in 7 weeks I've become Number 1 in my city of Chilliwack, Number 1 in the Fraser Valley (like a county) and Number 5 for all of British Columbia! I have had 2 Featured Posts and I've Done the Week in Review. Active Rain and the community has opened up a whole new world to me - that I'm tremendously grateful for.  I have met membe...
