I just spent about forty five minutes sitting in my backyard with all the lights out in the house. I am out in the middle of nowhere in western Pinal County,Arizona. the stars are out and the night is perfectly clear. It really makes you appreciate the solitude of living in the country. I sometimes miss the smells and sounds of the city, but not on an evening like tonight

I tried to add a community to the Localism site but I got the big red X. Hidden valley is a pretty large area west and south of the Town of Maricopa in Arizona. It is twenty miles plus long and at least five miles wide. It consists of a lot of acreage and a number of small subdivisions that are being developed. It has been around a long time and I think it deserves to be called a community just like all the new cookie cutter subdivisions with all their HOA's. There are a lot of great people, beautiful homes, horse property, and of course a few eccentrics. Arizona is a great place to relocate to and just remember when it is 115 degrees, it's a dry heat. LOL

For some reason I woke up this morning just before 5am. I walked outside to enjoy the cool 80 degree predawn temperature here in the desert and to let the dog out. Looking to the northeast I happen to see a bright light that just seemed to sitting still. I grabbed the binoculars but that didn't help so I grabbed my 99 dollar telescope and set it up. It was pretty cool because through the telescope it looked like a small version of an eclipse.  I am assuming I got to witness one of those things that just don't come along very often

The town of Maricopa,Az. puts on a number of events during the year. In April of this year they had the annual Salsa Festival. Live music, events for the kids, and the salsa contest. It started out great but mother nature decided to end it early by sending in a dust storm that I think may have changed the elevation of the town (LOL). The 4th Annual Founder's Day will be held on Oct. 13th,2007. Lot's of live music plus a chile cookoff and BBQ competition. For info call the Rec Dept @ 520-568-9098 ext 204

My accountant asked me today as he was filling out some forms today if Maricopa is in Pinal County or Maricopa County. Valid question. The town of Maricopa is located about 25 minutes south of Phoenix on Highway 347.  It has been predicted that it will be the next Chandler. We now have our own Police Dept, many new home subdivisons and a lot of growing pains. We are in Pinal County and we are growing rapidly.
