I read an interesting article in the paper the other day.  You truly open your eyes when you read about your neighboring community losing their homes due to foreclosures.  As a mother, you feel for those families, especially the little ones who had to leave their homes.It went on to say...Gilbert, Arizona -  550 houses were foreclosed upon in the year 2007 compared to 40 that were foreclosed upon in 2006.  Gilbert has six (6) zip codes, 85296 was hit the hardest in the year 2007 with 128 foreclosures.  In January 2008, 106 people faced foreclosure compared to 18 of those residents in the the year 2007.If you compare the numbers, ten times more Gilbert Residents lost their homes to foreclosure in 2007 than 2006.

I grew up in what I now realize, was an idyllic neighborhood. It was one of Arizona's first "master-planned" communities. There was main street with the grocery store, the drugstore, the florist, the bank. The elementary school was smack in the middle of town. We held our first foreclosure bus tour yesterday.  The bus holds about 46 and we had 2 cars following.  The tour consisted of 10 REO (Bank or Lender owned) properties located in Gilbert, AZ.  On the bus, we had representatives to answer questions about financing and home inspections. Breakfast snacks were provided before leaving at 10 AM and a light lunch was waiting for us on the return to the office.  The idea for the tour came from an piece that 60 Minutes had done a few months ago. The homes on the tour varied in price, size and condition.  As with most foreclosures, some of these homes were not in the best of condition.  Since foreclosures are generally sold "as is", condition is an important factor.  A couple of the homes only required cosmetic repairs, while others would need ext...
