It's 5am here in Chandler, Arizona and a beautiful 83degrees.  We're scheduled for some isolated thunderstorms today, but that's o.k.  Nothing is going to dampen my spirits today.  Why?  Because today is BACK TO SCHOOL for my little angels.  So soon, you ask?  Yes!!!  Here in Chandler - we're on a "modified year round" schedule.  That means, we have a 7-8 week summer (not the 12 that I had growing up).  The extra weeks off are taken in October and March.  My kids attend school 180 days a year, but TODAY is the first day back!Do I sound happy?!  I am so thrilled that we will be able to return to some kind of normalcy around here.  I long for the scheduled days of school and activities.  Sure, I put more miles on my car from July - May, but it's all good.  I love watching my son play base... 07/23/2007

If you live in or around Chandler Arizona or will be visiting the area this week, you may want to check out the annual Fourth of July event in Chandler Arizona. The event is hosted by the Chandler Lions Club with 7Up as a corporate sponsor. Activities begin at 4pm and run until 10:30pm with fireworks happening at 9:30 pm. the event takes place at Tumbleweed Park at the south east corner of McQueen and Germann Roads. Admission is free and parking is $5.00. In addition to the fireworks there is live music, classic cars on display, a 35 foot water slide and water games. An event called The Cactus Bike Push Pull Peddle Bike Parade is held at 6pm. Chandler AZ Community Blog: Festival & Celebration After attending yesterday's blogging conference, I came home and put my creativity to work. Chandler Dog Parks Chandler Arizona has several Dog Parks you may want to check out if you are a dog owner. (Note - Children under 12 years old are not allowed in dog parks in Chandler Arizona.) Snedigar Dog Park is located at 4500 S. Alma School Road in Chandler Arizona. To get into this dog park enter the Snedigar Sports Complex (formerly the Chandler Regional Sports Complex) from Alma School and Lake, south of Ocotillo Road. There are two separate enclosures, one for smaller/shyer dogs and one for the more aggressive and friendly crowd. There are double-gated entrances, water and pooper-scoopers. Only three dogs maximum per person are allowed. The park is open from sunrise to 10:30 p.m., except when reserved for police dog training. For more information call 480-782-2727. The cost of a new home in Chandler will increase by $6000.00 when the city's new Impact Fees goes into effect, according to a report in the Arizona Republic.  The increase to $19,538 from $13,587 on a single-family home is among the Valley's highest. Those in favor say Chandler needs the money to meet demands for new parks, roads and water lines as the city nears residential build-out. Chandler city officials estimate that there is room in Chandler for about 15,000 more homes. Chandler however, is not the only city to have recently raised Impact fees.  Other's include: Gilbert's residential impact fee is scheduled to increase next month to $15,968 from $14,633 per home.
