Sometimes when we're in the car, we like to quiz each other. It's a strange, but fun habit that everyone in my family partakes in. Well, actually, anyone who rides in my car gets to experience a barrage of "Would you rather .... " questions. Wanna play? Chandler has continued to see a downward trend in home prices since the latter half of 2006. 2007 finished the year off with a depreciation rate of about 12% and the first decline in homes in over 15 years. May Residential HighlightsClosed sales are continuing to increase and May saw 340, a 20% increase over April. It appears that we have possibly hit bottom as closed sales have continued to creep up and have increased every month since Sept. 2007 with the exception of January. Pending sales also showed a jump and are on track to continue to improve with approximately 428 homes currently under contract. New listings are continuing to decrease, a very good sign that we are finally selling off the excess inventory. This Information is from Rossmar and Graham the Andersen Springs HOA. You may have noticed our greenbelt grass is turning brown in some areas. This is due to four main line breaks last week, one right after another. Unfortunately, the pump house had to be turned off while the breaks were repaired and the grass has suffered. To compound this issue, the irrigation pump is having some mechanical malfunctions as well. The company that maintains the pump has been troubleshooting this and the irrigation water is back up and running. We are not sure why the pumps are malfunctioning and a specialist is visiting tomorrow to determine what the problem was. Hopefully the watering will continue through the night as scheduled. Woo hoo! New Chandler Shopping Area - Portico Place Hooray! The ugly blight of the Rogers Electronics Plant and then the demolished remains on the Southwest corner of Dobson and Chandler Boulevard is gone.  This borders the Andersen Springs neighborhood. Construction is in full swing on a CVS (another one?)  and new shopping/hotel development.  The CVS Pharmacy will be located on the corner along with the first of two Class A office buildings. Chandler Art Walk - takes place in downtown historical Chandler the first wednesday of the month.  It's a quant art walk, reminds me a little of Sedona's atmosphere but this is a closer to home. I'm guessing there was close to 75 vendors with exhibits, for example:  painting, photography, hand blown glass, jewelry, wood craftsmanship and a whole lot more. The restaurants are open, from bistro's to breweries, mexican food, thai and a darling tea shop that serves lunch / dinner and beautiful pastries.  On every corner is someone to direct you throughout the art walk and different little bands playing the guitar and piano.  Reminded me of the south where they walk the street and serande the people strolling by.
