Arguably the most anticipated residential development in Northwest Arkansas history, the Lofts at Underwood Plaza is nearing completion.  For the first time today the general public was invited in to tour the building and see the progress.  For those of you who were too devastated by the Razorbacks' loss to join us at Underwood Plaza today, I took some photos for your enjoyment.  Please keep in mind that this is not the finished product, but a good representation of what these luxury condos will look like upon completion. I woke bright and (somewhat) early this morning to do one of my very favorite activities - go to the Fayetteville Farmers' Market.  The market is open Saturday mornings on the downtown square from 7am - 1pm starting in early April and running through late November.  The market is also open in the Mill District on Thursdays from 4pm - 7pm with a slightly shorter season.  As you can tell from the photos below, there is a diverse offering at the market including fresh produce & flowers, performers, crafts, and ready to eat food.  View more photos (you'll definitely want to see them) and leave a comment at moveNWA.com This is just one reason Fayetteville is a great place to call home!                                       09/06/2008

Life in Northwest Arkansas is incredible!  I am so happy to be back here and taking in the natural beauty of the area.  I have spent the past couple of weeks getting organized (simplest way of putting it when you are virtually building a new business from the ground up).  One thing I've been doing is driving neighborhoods in order to get a good feel of what's available to Buyers.  While driving through the Mission Hills subdivision - a beautiful, small subdivision at the base of Mt. Dr. David Gearhart became the 5th chancellor of the University of Arkansas today.  His office released a video introduction. Dr. Gearhart is most notably recognized for directing the Campaign for the Twenty-First Century.  This fund-raising effort was the largest in UA history raising over $1 billion and growing the endowment from $119 million to $900 million. The snow never came, so my trip with my friend Suzanne actually happened.  She lives in Tulsa so we headed to NWA on Friday.  We stopped in Chouteau, Oklahoma to visit Ropp's Farm and Bakery.  This family-owned bakery has fresh goods every day including pies, cookies, bread, cinnamon rolls, and more.  Totally worth the stop! Once we reached Fayetteville, I gave Suzanne a tour of the town & the University of Arkansas.  We saw Razorback Stadium, the nearly-completed Chancellor's home, Bud Walton Arena, the Greek Theater, and Old Main, of course. Suzanne was impressed with the natural beauty of Fayetteville and the great "vibe" that the progressive college town gives off. Anderson Cooper will speak at the University of Arkansas on Friday, March 7th as part of its Distinguished Lecture Series.  Anderson will be speaking in Barnhill Arena at 8pm.  The event is free and open to the public. Ever seen a car like this?  Probably not.  Meet the Razorbug...  a modified Volkswagen Beetle that is the admissions mascot for the University of Arkansas.  According to the university's website the Razorbug's primary mission is "to assist the Office of Admissions in efforts to attract qualified students to the University of Arkansas." The Razorbug can also be found traveling the nation to recruiting events & Arkansas Razorback sporting events.  As you can see in the photo, the Razorbug is a celebrity drawing photogs everywhere it goes! As many of you know, I went to school at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.  I moved away for 8 years with just the rare occassion to visit.  When I relocated back to the area I was so shocked to see how things had changed!          The growth at the University itself since I had attended is absolutely amazing.  My college roommate and friend Aaron Bleidt, editor of Citiscapes magazine recently took me to one of Fayetteville's newest areas of growth, the Mill District where we ate at La Maison Des Tartes.  I had the tastiest oatmeal, I mean Irish Oats Brulee, I've ever had!  Of course, there's the new Pinnacle Hills Promenade in Rogers.  The commercial and residential growth in Bentonville & Rogers is staggering.  Of course, this area is home to big businesses like Tyson Foods,... 08/27/2007

Finally things are beginning to look up. This has been the slowest in years as far as buyers looking to purchase. The banks continue to tighten lending requirements and they are keeping their purse strings tight. Even BIG business is having a hard time getting loans from the banking community. But over the last 10 days a shift seems to be in the wind....the back to school rush is here. Folks are looking to purchase before school starts. Is it a sign of better things to come? My opinion is that the real estate market will be relatively flat the remainder of this year with a stronger demand toward the end of 2008. That's what the market reports are telling us here in NWA. The city of Fayetteville, Arkansas, has been planning and building multi-use trails for several years. This effort recently received nationwide recognition when Mayor Dan Coody was presented an award for climate protection at the 75th annual meeting of the U. S. Conference of Mayors in Los Angeles last month. More than 100 cities competed. Applicants were judged on mayoral leadership, creativity and innovation, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and/or improved quality of life in their community.Fayetteville's award was in the small cities category. Albuquerque, New Mexico, won a similar award in the large city categorySixteen miles of multi-use trails have been built to date with approximately five miles added each year. Northwest Arkansas has finally fallen prey to national real estate trends. In the 4th quarter of 2006 Fayetteville's prices, for example, fell 14%, but in Benton County prices continued rising. But those prices fell in the first quarter of 2007 for the first time in several years. With an oversupply of homes on the market, especially over $200K, it is definitely a buyer's market.
