I have several books by Eckhart Tolle and what I like about his writing is he believes the past doesn't exist and the future hasn't come yet so the focus is on the present moment ... NOWHere are some words of advice about negativity from Eckhart Tolle that makes sense to me and maybe you ...And a photo I took in Alaska during fall for the moment of now ;o)

Sunrise over June Lake at Denali National Park Alasak by Robert Swetz 2015  Do you prefer a Sunrise of a Sunset? As a photographer of 40 years I have had my fair share of  Sunrises and Sunsets and they are by far one of my favorite scenes to capture. The problem is lately as I get older it is much easier to take a photo of a sunset vs a sunrise because I have to get up at the crack of dawn to capture a sunrise. But on the other hand I like the idea of a sunrise because I have the whole day ahead of me vs a sunset where it becomes dark after the set.So which one do you prefer ... Robert Swetz moved by the story and movie - The RevenantWell I finally had the chance to view the movie The Revenant yesterday and WOW ... what a story and great movie! And after viewing what Hugh Glass went through, between being attacked by Indians (Native Americans) to a Grizzly attack, etc., I thought what a wonderful life I have. And as much hiking that I have done in Alaska the last couple years, the thought of carrying a pistol has crossed my mind many times.I have a handful of pistols locked up in a vault in Las Vegas because I didn't want to carry them into Alaska through the airlines. It's just as easy to buy more, you can never have enough guns ;o)I have seen bears in a distance while hiking in Alaska, but I had no idea that they could run so fast! When I viewed the Hugh Glass g...

Flying With K2 Aviation To Explore Alaska's Giant Glaciers Looking for amazing sites of huge Alaskan glaciers, sided with a glacier landing? Check out K2 Aviation tours in Talkeetna, AK. They offer various options in how you could explore the glacier fields of Alaska. K2 Aviation was a great option. We choose to fly and land on a glacier. The entire trip was about 1 3/4 hours long. Our pilot Richshared great insights about how the glaciers where created, what they are doing now and other interesting facts about climbers getting ready to summit Mount McKinely.  On this day we did not get to see the full view of Mount McKinely, but it was still an amazing experience. We even spotted a small cottage built near the glacier we landed on.  If you ever visit Alaska, be sure not to miss out on ...

One Of The Best Ways to Seeing Wildlife in Alaska One of the best ways to see wildlife in Alaska is by traveling off the beaten path. Denali National Park and Preserve will offer that amazing opportunity. As shared in a previous blog, there is a huge mis-conception that wildlife is in abundance, roaming all around Alaska and ready to appear at every turn. The fact is, Alaska is a harsh environment for both humans and animals to survive in. The main four animals that call Alaska home are the Wolf, Karbiu, Moose and Bear.  The park rangers and locals all said, the realistic outlook for seeing any animals, especially the four main ones, is extremely rare.  An interesting tidbit of insight also came when we were told by locals we had a better chance of seeing wildlife when it rained vs bein...

Answer To Pop Quiz About Alaskan WildlifeMajority of Alaska's land has be designated National and Start Park regions. Denali itself is 6 million acres of untouched wilderness. When you arrive in Alaska, do you think the wildlife population will be in abundance all around? This includes near major Alaskan cities, the coast line, National and State park and preserves.  The answer is: No. Wildlife in Alaska is rare to come across and you are "lucky," as some locals will say, to see any, especially the main four animals. They include the Bear, Moose, Karibu and Wolf. How can you see these animals? You need to have patience first and foremost, and go to where majority of them will be roaming safely. This will include the any State Parks, National Preserves and Wildlife Conservations Centers....

Denali National Park around Mount McKinley in Alaska is by far one of the most beautiful places in the state of Alaska.   Robert Vegas Bob Swetz has only been on the edge of Denali National Park, and never had the chance to get into the heart of the park.   Robert Swetz is hoping sometime in 2015 or 2016 that he will be able to take the tour into DNP in Alaska.   When Vegas Bob was traveling towards Fairbanks Alaska in October of 2014, in DNP when the sun was rising, he captured this photograph reflection on "Byers Lake"   Alaska is by far "The Las Frontier" ;o)       Byers Lake Denali National Park Alaska by Robert Swetz 2014   Posted by "Super Star" at 1:02 PM  Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest Labels: 2014, Alaska, byers lake, Denali National Par...

It's October and we don't have any snow on the ground to speak of.  Can you believe it?  Normally by this time we're covered by at least a thin blanket of snow.  Yesterday we took advantage of yet another gorgeous Autumn day in Alaska and drove down to Denali Park.  From Fairbanks, Denali is a short 115 mile drive down the Parks Highway. With some good 'ol beach music streaming from the ipod we headed down the road.  I doubt we passed more than a dozen cars; all the blue hairs have left for warmer climates. Just south of Healy we spotted a RV that somehow managed to end up on its roof.  A rough landing no doubt.  A recent two-foot plus snowfall prompted the closure of the Park Road beyond Milepost 15 (Savage River).  But, there's wildlife galore to be seen in those 15 gorgeous miles.  O...

I swore I would never, ever make that trip again.  The last time I did, it cost a pretty penny to charter a helicopter to fly me off the mountain.  For some reason I have an aversion to looking out the window of a bus (driven by an undoubtedly high college kid who looks like he's one toke away from driving us all to a certain death) and seeing terra firma... 1,500 feet straight down.  Nope.  Sorry. Just not gonna do it. This past weekend the boss and I took some much needed R&R time and headed south to Denali Park.  I know, I know... some say all we do in the summer is take time off.  It's amazing how much business you can conduct via a satellite connection. :)  Where there's a will, there's a way, right? While we were fortunate to have gorgeous sunny skies and temps in the 70's I was d...
