Lethbridge blogs are one tool I use to stay current on information on Lethbridge.  I try to keep an eye on my community Lethbridge Alberta.  Partially because it is good for business, but also because it is great to be the sort of guy who knows what is going on in the Lethbridge business community.  Often it is the sort of information that can help a client make a smart move based upon future developments.  So despite being focused upon Lethbridge real estate, I follow everything pertaining to the city.   One of the things that I utilize to keep up to date on Lethbridge news is google alerts.  I won't go into the details of how or what I do, but suffice to say that when local stuff happens on the internet I have a fairly decent lead time on the events.  I think everyone should do this w...

Firm hit with $145,000 in penalties Written by Dave Mabell Lethbridge Herald    Wednesday, 26 August 2009 A Lethbridge land development firm will pay a $100,000 penalty as part of a settlement with the province’s securities regulator. Foundation Capital Corporation was asked to answer a claim it made misleading statements in marketing a 923-acre residential development south of Calgary. Its president, Ronald Aitkens, will also pay $30,000 to settle the allegations against him along with $15,000 toward the costs of the Alberta Securities Commission proceedings.Foundation Capital Corporation, registered as a Lethbridge company, was cited earlier this year along with  two related businesses, Spruce Ridge Capital Inc. and Spruce Ridge Estates Inc. lethbridge mortgage broker lethbridge real estate   For many years, illegal and non-conforming basement suites have been the bane of many real estate transactions and mortgage applications.  The City of Lethbridge has tried to deal with the situation several times in the past few decades, at one time allowing suites that were in existence before 1969 to remain in their non-conforming condition and making exceptions onf suites which were constructed after 1969.   As 2008 drew to a close, a new fire code amendment required all existing basement suites to be improved to meet a minimum safety level including smoke and fire detectors, proper egress windows on all bedrooms, free access to exits from the suite, and containing all HVAC systems behind moderately fire retardant walls.   At our recent Lethbridge parade celebrating 'Whoop Up Days', there were many more floats entered than anticipated.  This years parade was quite long.  I had to say that one of my favorite floats in the parade happened to be 'The Gentlemen Plumbers'.  This float featured their work truck equiped with 2 bubble blowing machines (you have to look close in front of the truck, but you can see them) and then a guy driving a bathtub gocart.  This was hilarious and the crowd really loved it.   Very smart marketing!   Now I haven't ever made use of the services of this local Lethbridge business, but certainly admire their creativity and effort to market themselves.             Here are a few of my favorite past articles from my Lethbridge real estate and mortgage blog you might have missed or w...

  The Lethbridge City Police do a great job keeping our city as free from crime as possible.  Over the years, the city has grown and the size of the police force has struggled to keep up with it.  Not to mention that we have started to see typically urban crime start to find its way down to our community.  Still, our local police service has managed to maintain a safe community for us. MLS® home sales rise to highest level in more than two years MLS® home sales activity in Alberta climbed back above 7,000 units for the first time in two years in June 2009. With demand recovering and inventories declining from elevated levels, the provincial MLS® housing market continues to stabilize.   According to statistics provided by real estate boards in Alberta, MLS® home sales in the province numbered 7,368 units in June 2009, up 22 per cent on a year-over-year basis. This is the second increase in as many months and the largest in more than three years. Residential sales activity increased by 38 per cent from year-ago levels in Edmonton, and by 27 per cent in Calgary, which drove the provincial increase in transactions. Lethbridge cranes and rigging speicalist Zero Gravity helped me move a shed today.  This is not the first time that I have used their crane services, but my 3rd.  A couple of years ago I purchased a new hot tub and needed a way to get it home.  I called up Zero Gravity Crane and Rigging and asked them if they could move a hot tub in lethbridge.  They met me out at Costco, loaded it for me, and then dropped it into my backyard by lifting it and reaching clear over my house.  It was a pretty slick operation.   I am reposting this with pics so you can see what I am talking about.       Recently I purchased a large shed.  It was 10 x 20 ( almost a single garage!).  Once again I phoned up Nick at Zero Gravity and asked him if they were able to move a shed in Lethbridge for me.  They came wit...

    Lethbridge Lakeview bungalows for sale are a popular choice for families seeking affordable homes in a great neighborhood.  The homes located in the Lakeview area of the City of Lethbridge tend to be of fairly consistent and desirable style.  The majority of the homes in the subdivision are modest bungalows ranging from 950 to 1100 square feet with full basements and decent sized mature lots.  The homes in the are are about 40 to 45 years old now and were built back when the builders still used real Fir wood and took pride in their craftsmanship.  Most of the properties have experienced upgrades over the years, and new furnaces, roofs, and kitchens are commonplace now.         Location, location, location!  Once again, the reason that Lakeview is such a popular area of Lethbridge fo...
