“New Way to Look at Pest Control” A woman was having a passionate affair with an Irish inspector from a pest-control company. One afternoon they were carrying on in the bedroom when her husband arrived home unexpectedly. ‘Quick,” said the woman to the lover, “Into the closet!” and she pushed him in the closet, stark naked. The husband, however, became suspicious and after a search of the bedroom discovered the man in the closet. “Who are you?” he asked him. “I'm an inspector from Bugs-B-Gone,” quickly replied the “exterminator.” “What are you doing in there?” the husband asked. “I'm investigating a complaint about an infestation of moths,” the man replied.“And where are your clothes?” asked the husband. The man looked down at himself and cried, “Those little b@st@rds!”

Remote Work Is Here To Stay. Can Your Home Deliver the Space You Need? A lot has changed over the past year. For many people, the rise in remote work influenced what they’re looking for in a home and created a greater appetite for a dedicated home office. Some professionals took advantage of the situation and purchased a bigger home. Other people thought working from home would be temporary, so they chose to get creative and make the space they already had work for them. But recent headlines indicate working from home isn’t a passing fad. If you’re still longing for a dedicated home office, now may be the time to find the home that addresses your evolving needs. More and more companies are delaying their plans to return to the office – others are deciding to remain fully remote permanen...

Buying a house is the relatively easy part when you compare it to the regular maintenance of your property, as the latter can take considerable time, effort, and money, not to mention that is ongoing throughout the life of that property. However, there are some proactive measures that you can take to reduce the frequency of repairs, so your property is structurally strong and it also eventually saves you a ton of money. One such measure is loft insulation, where you add an extra layer of protection to the loft to beef up its structure and to reduce the repair and maintenance costs of a leaky roof. It also comes with another big advantage, which is, a big saving in your energy bill.Do you know that about 25% of heat is lost through your roof? This can definitely add to your heating bills ...

In today's world of e-commerce and sales and listing apps, we're constantly buying or sending something, even if you don't own a business. Imagine selling your old stuff and buying new/used stuff that you've always wanted.Either way, delivery services have become an integral part of our lives, and this also explains why companies vie with each other to offer the best services at competitive rates. But how do you know which company offers the best value for your money for a particular shipping destination or item? That's where companies like Shiply come in handy. What is Shiply?Simply put, Shiply is an aggregator of delivery firms, where each company offers its best rate for  delivery, and as a user, you get to choose the one that best meets your needs. All that you have to do is request a...

While you can change and improve your traits, it will take real commitment, discipline, and desire to change your old habits. U.S. National Arboretum, Washington, DC USACanon PowerShot G11 CameraPhotograph by Roy KelleyRoy and Dolores Kelley Photographs Have you ever heard someone say, "Who died and left him in charge?"  But is certainly true in many cases that leadership is not given it it assumed.  I believe that.  Think about your own formal and informal teams.  Haven't leaders emerged for reasons such as assuming responsibility, developing trust, or just being the go to person.  I can remember when I was HR Director for a company and I would always listen to "Manny in the warehouse" to test run a new program.  I believe that you gain recognition as a leader by showing the way for ot...

As I mentioned before, my dad grew up in the South. Near Meridian Mississippi. Because of him, even though I grew up in San Diego, when I get tired or sick, I speak with a Southern accent. My grandma would cook me rabbit for lunch (which she killed that morning) and serve it with sweet tea. I learned that RC Cola and a Moon Pie is an acceptable meal. And y’all is a term you hear from people that care about you. And I know all y'all are just jealous. Bless your hearts. Maybe y'all never enjoyed grits. Or a Moon Pie. I just want you to know that I have sympathy for the less fortunate like yourselves. But for those that aren’t aware of what it is like to be Southern, take a gander (take a look) at some of these:

George William Manby was born in Denver, Norfolk, England back in 1765 to Matthew and Mary.  He was educated at the Free Grammar School in King’s Lynn.  He volunteered to fight in the American War of Independence at 17.  He was rejected due to his youth, instead he was sent to the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich.  In 1788, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Cambridgeshire Militia reaching the rank of captain before resigning in 1793.  He married the daughter of Reverend Preston but left her in 1801 after being shot by her lover moving to Clifton, Bristol.  In 1807, he witnessed a Royal Navy ship carrying French prisoners run aground killing 214 people including women and children.  With that embedded in his mind he invented a mortar call the Manby Mortar.  It fired a thin rop...

What did you learn today.  If you have attended the Tuesday Active Rain Zoom meetings you can say that you have always learned something. These Zoom meetings are a wonderful way for Active Rain members who know each other virtually to get to know more about each other.  I know we all love in person meetups but we get to have a meetup here once a week.I can think about all of the topics discussed from creating a podcast to Google accounts in the cloud to Google Photos.  Just as an aside I was so interested in Craig Daniels Google Photos presentation that I set up an account  and synced my photos from my iPhone and iPad.We really get to know each other on Zoom.  For example, Sham Reddy has been commenting on my blogs but I never had the pleasure of hearing him speak about his passion for ...

Through the years I have attended countless networking events, NAR Conventions, and Relocation Conferences. The round table discussions at these events I find to be very similar to the Zoom meetings I have attended. Some of the best ideas I have come across were picked up at round table discussions.  The ActiveRain Community is so fortunate to have so many skilled real estate professionals who can share a wealth of experiences. It would be great to comprise a panel discussion of AR members sharing their experiences of placing successful referrals. There are so many avenues to find the right match. The AR Leadership Board, CRS , GRI or your relocation network / franchise affiliation.                                                                                                          ...

(Beth and Ryan Waller, Realtor)
ORIGINAL ARTICLE WRITTEN FOR GUELPH TODAY: Guelph real estate continues its surge, but there are pockets of more affordable options, say Beth and Ryan WallerIt’s no secret that most Ontario real estate markets have hit new highs this year, including Guelph. Even the federal government stepped in on the campaign trail with new promises to support first time home buyers and make housing more affordable across the country.“The challenge is supply,” says Ryan Waller, Sales Representative with Home Group Realty. “You can provide incentives for buyers, but that is not addressing the problem. It’s purely an unhealthy supply and demand imbalance that needs to be addressed with more houses for purchase and rental. Until then, prices will rise and become less affordable.”A surge in buyers from th...
