In the words of President John F. Kennedy: "A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces, but also by the men it remembers, the men it honors."  Today, let's honor and say a thank you for the brave men and women who gave all and families and loved ones left behind. And as we do so, let's remember our own commitments to live and serve with passion, joy and enthusiasm.                 "Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it. It flies with the last breath of each soldier who died protecting it."Unknown

Indianapolis 500 107th running - The cars that make the raceYesterday was the 107th running of the Indy 500. I consider myself a car guy and I do not enjoy watching the race but I enjoy the Pace Cars. I did own one of the 1000 or so produced dealer Pace Cars that were manufactured. When my kids were young I took pictures of the Pace Car and with my kids. My kids refer to these pictures with fond memories. So far I must have owned between 75 and 125 cars in my life. The special cars document a timeline for me and my family.Below I have a list of the Indy Pace Cars through the years and it does make me smile as I review the list.1911    Stoddard-Dayton    1912    Stutz    1913    Stoddard-Dayton    1914    Stoddard-Dayton    1915    Packard 6 (Model 5-48)    1916    Premier 6 (Model 6-56)...

For many Douglasville residents, the choice of their next Douglasville home is between existing homes and new ones. For those whose initial house-hunting forays produce little more than sticker shock, there’s a third, less popular option: building your own Douglasville home! While there are plenty of examples of success for those choosing the third path, by the time that option is move-in ready, the end result may not have significantly reduced the bottom line. Especially now, with supply snags and inflation weighing heavily on construction costs, building your own Douglasville home isn’t a sure way to greatly ease the financial burden. As dozens of online checklists reveal, building your own home involves many more details than just buying a lot and hiring a contractor. Here’s a shorten...

The web has long since upended the public library as the principal dispensary of the latest research on publicly accessible information—so much so that the libraries themselves rate their offering of free computer access as one of the prime reasons why “Going to the library” is “the most common cultural activity in America” (if you find that hard to believe, check out this Chicago Tribune explanation). When Dallas real estate data, like the latest local trends and activity, become a central point of inquiry, the internet’s easy 24/7 accessibility would seem to offer a giant step forward. In some respects, that can be true—but always with the proviso that the trustworthiness of online data should always be confirmed by multiple sources and they should be checked to confirm that those sour...

Powder Springs’s Memorial Day capped a weekend that had all the expected Mem Day activities—including the feeling that summer is close at hand. Actual summer may not arrive in Powder Springs until the summer solstice on Wednesday—but especially in years like this one, when Memorial Day is just a few days removed from the start of hurricane season (officially on Thursday), it clearly marks high time to check whether enough charcoal briquettes overwintered from last fall. You don’t have to have a primary or vacation home that might be affected by hurricanes to mark June 1 as the point in the year when summer weather makes news. The official start of hurricane season is said to be when mid-Atlantic storms usually begin to get going in earnest. Ninety-seven percent of Atlantic tropical cyclo...

Amidst the barbecues and festivities, let us pause and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day – to honor the fallen, respect their families, and uphold the values they fought for. The values are the thing that should stay with us for more that one day.  We all share different ideas on what those values should be , America has changed over time.  Today might be a good day to review where we have been as a nation and change course away from the issues that the media is spouting and return to tose values that made this nation great.  Today, we salute their valor and express our deepest gratitude.Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. #thehelpfulagent #home #houseexpert #house #listreports #memorialday #respectadhonor #honor #respect #thankyou

Every year, on last Monday in May, and this year on Monday, May 29, 2023, we celebrate Memorial Day holiday by gathering with family and friends, attend parades, and honor and praise those who lost their lives for our freedom.Memorial Day originally was known "Decoration Day" and observed on May 30 1868, flowers were placed on soldiers graves at Arlington National Cemetery. New York was the first state to officially recognize the holiday in 1873. The United States Congress passed “The National Remembrance Act,” and requests that all American citizens to pause their activities wherever they are at 3:00PM local time and give a moment of silence to those who have fallen to protect our freedoms as American people.I want to share some of the best Memorial Day quotes:"The price of freedom is ...

Originally known as Decoration Day, it was a day that organized women’s groups left flowers on the graves of our soldiers who valiantly served Our Country. In 1971 this day was changed to Memorial Day and a day we honor and remember our fallen American soldiers. Take a few minutes to reach out to our servicemen and women to thank them for their sacrifices that are real and permanent.    God Bless America! This also is the unofficial start of the summer!

Memorial Day, which is celebrated on the last Monday in May, is dedicated to honoring the brave souls who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the country's armed forces. This solemn day is a testament to the valor, fortitude, and dedication of these men and women, and it serves as a poignant reminder of the price of freedom. The nationwide observance of Memorial Day was officially recognized in 1868 by General John A. Logan, leader of an organization for Northern Civil War veterans. General Logan chose May 30th as the date because it wasn't the anniversary of a specific battle, making it a fitting time to remember all fallen soldiers. Over time, and particularly after World War I, the day was expanded to honor all U.S. military personnel who had died in all wars, not just ...

ON MEMORIAL DAY HONOR THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR ALL...We who live in freedom will always be grateful to those who helped preserve it.  "For love of country, they accepted death." ... James A. Garfield Freedom is not free. Freedom comes at a cost... in the sacrifice of life and acceptance of death. We are uniquely free in the United States of America because there have been many throughout our history who were willing to sacrifice their lives and accept death to protect our freedom.  "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself."... Joseph Campbell Below, I've posted one of my favorite Memorial Day Tributes by Ronald Reagan. As President Reagan said "words cannot repay the debt we owe."  This Memorial Day speech never fails to move me. The message is simp...

I love Florida and even in the dog days of summer but your attic might not!  When I sell a home to somebody from the “North” I tell them to not store their Christmas candles in the attic because if you do you will have a melted candle.  Temperatures in a Florida attic can be 130 to 150 degrees which means your ceiling can be hot so there goes your cooling cost up.  Most homes here have roof vents but that might not be enough you might want to consider a solar powered roof fan.  You will need to check but on one website they were talking tax credit if you installed them. What happens when hot moist air hits cool air besides thunderstorms?  The moisture in the hot air turns to liquid and that is happening right above your ceiling in your installation, not good in the long run.  Some homes ...
