Q#1  - Only time will tell.

Q#2  -  I do not know.

What I do know is I live in CA and despite what one political figure head claims, people and companies continue to leave due to policies and the high cost of living.

That's very interesting Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate . I have no idea how it will play out but I hope it doesn't further the liberalization of TX.

It's my understanding they have zero control.  And I don't think it will make any difference except perhaps to their bottom line to be in a state with lower state taxes.

No, they sold it outright.

From what I understand, Texas is more business friendly than California and will be a good move.

Don't know if it will help real estate.  I have heard that homes in Austin cost about a third of what they cost in Silicon Valley but they won't have the luxury of tapping into Stanford and Cal and SJSU and all the other colleges for talent.   What's interesting to note is that the city of Santa Clara has it's own electric generating plant (others use PG&E) which was a guarantee to have Intel HQ'd there so that was a plus for Santa Clara.  But having to pay workers less is the Rupert way.

My understanding is it was sold outright. As for Texas, the cost of living is lower. As for better service, nope!

It doesnt matter where they are headquartered, they will continue to be a zillow, marketing online leads to agents who are willing to spend big bucks for questionable leads.

Two good questions here. On the first, being online overrides location in my opinion. Does it matter where something is as long as it is available & performing now a days? As to the second question, that would have to be disclosed but where? In public? In Escrow? With Governmental agencies? Lets get some answers Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate  thank you

New hands may be better than the old hands. I do not know anything about the percent they may or may not have held.

Can't say I follow Realtor.com. News to me that they are moving but not surprised. As for ownership, I believe it's zero.

In 2014, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) held a 1.92% stake in Move, Inc., the operator of Realtor.com. When News Corp acquired Move, Inc. in November 2014, NAR tendered its shares as part of the transaction and relinquished its seat on Move's board of directors. Consequently, NAR no longer retained any stock in Move, Inc. following the sale.

I think the move to TX is a good direction Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate.

Question 1: The relocation will certainly help the Texas real estate market.

Question 2: I have no idea.

I'm not shocked they're moving... afterall I live in CA and the headaches that our state puts on companies over 15 people in size are ridiculous.

My understanding is that Murdoch pays NAR a licensing fee for the Realtro.com name, but that is it.  NAR in their infinite stupidity and short-sightedness allows them to do what they want.  They could trash using a real estate agent tomorrow and there would be nothing NAR could do.  I don't even think they can pull back the trademark.

I guess the first answer to the question is; Is Realtor.com good for the Real Estate industry? What changes by moving to TX?

The New York Stock Exchange Chicago is moving to Texas and will be known as the NYSE Texas in Texas.

Both these items are good for TX

If you do not own something, does it really matter what the person you sold the item to does with it...?
