I do not.  My son and I are in alignment with most all issues.  

The few issues we are not in agreement, we openly discuss.  We are both adults therefore there is no need to argue... we agree to disagree.

My brother and I have had this same conversation. Their generation is all about 'touchy-feely' and our generation is more practical than they are. 


The result? They vote personality, not policy. I will say in generations before us, they voted party only. Thankfully people have to think before checking those boxes now - there is no more one-click, 'straight ticket' voting!

     Nope. Whatever they believe, they were your children that are now free thinking adults.

     If you and your kids, grandchildren can have a discussion on the issues and not the person on the ballot calmly. That is how you broaden narrow views on both sides. That is how you change the country being 50/50 split which is not good for a country, for a family, for anyone. 

     Division is not harmony and progress and hurts us all.

I argue with my children about many things, from sports to dirty dishes on the counter when the sink is about 18 inches away.  Arguing about politics is a waste of time.

It is such a shame that some people cannot carry on a conversation without having to shoehorn in their political view or spin on the topic, or worse, go off topic to get political.  

Michael Elliott please don't ever let politics affect your relationship with your daughter.  Even if you have to let her win an argument from time to time.

I do not discuss politics with my son, or anyone in my family for that matter - except my bride and we're on the same page mostly. Only a fool believes they'll change another's mind about politics, sex or religion. A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still.

No. No use in arguing over politics. While we don't see everything eye to eye, we do have similar values with our kids. 

I have a handful of friends I discuss politics with even if we disagree on things. If someone wants to argue and not respect the fact the other person is allowed to have their own opinion, then I don't talk politics with them.

With others, I just smile and nod.
