Hi Michael, we love our new stamped concrete patio, but as with anything else there is maintenance involved.  If you live in a wooded setting be prepared to remove almost daily in season falling catkins, maple seeds, acorns, wet leaves, etc.   Failure to do so can result in some temporary staining that would need to be removed with cleaning agents or a power washer.  Make sure you get your patio sealed!  Good luck!

I have had both patios and decks. These days, decks are no-maintenance with manmade products like Treks. I like a deck for uneven yard areas or to create elevated views. Currently I have a balcony and patio and both require maintenance too; painting (walls & railings) and staining (concrete floors). So, there's work involved no matter what you choose; admittedly some require more than others.

We have a concrete patio - it works great where I live and is easy to maintain.

A concrete patio is the standard where I live.  I put a solid cover on mine last year, which was very handy in the rain.  Kept my patio furniture dry and allowed me to bbq and smoke meat in the rain.

We're putting them on all of our properties now.

I'd way rather have a patio versus a deck. I agree... they decks are more maintenance... and these days you can do so many interesting things with a patio.

If I had a pool, a concrete, covered patio would be my choice, Michael. Low maintenance for sure!

Depends on height. You might need a small deck / landing, with steps down to a concrete, brick, or stone patio. Also, with a patio, it's safer if you want a fire pit, or even just a grill.

I'm a huge patio fan but, have to have a deck based upon the high crawl space in the back. I would much prefer it to be a patio!

It depends on how far you are from the ground. I like patios if low to the ground. We see more decks than patios in our area.

Decks are gonna be a PITA here, it's just too damn hot.
Patio is better here and I honestly don't know of many who have decks . . .

I have a solar screened patio with my extreme spa under it, and open patio with fire pit . . .

It all depends on the product you use to build your deck. We originally build a front and back  huge deck, out of treated wood, it was way too much maintenance. We finally decided to pay the high price and use Composite Decking.  Nice and easy to clean and it feels good to the feet:)

We just expanded our deck to about three times the size.

Though it only gets a few months of use in our climate, I enjoy using it very much.

My favorite was my home in Florida with a screened patio with inground pool and spa. Now in downtown Chicago my balconies have to do being in the sky. Maintenance either way.

I prefer a patio if it's low to the ground. I need a deck based on the height off my kitchen and primary bedroom but have an Ipe wood deck with stairs down to my stone patio around the pool. that I love.

I had a deck at my previous home, and it was a pain to stain every year.  I heard the new owner tore it down, and added more concrete for a patio.

Patio! If your layout is conducive to that. We had to redo our cedar deck; went with Trex this time.
