Or is this a legit measure of the grids recognized around the world or just on this APP?

I have.  However I prefer Sending a pin from maps.   The issues associated with it are "wrong word"  like incite or insight,  sounds the same, spelled differently.  It's been banned for emergency use in the United Kingdom from I'm told for just that reason.
