My father was on bandstand. I watched Headbanger's Ball growing up, along with "Up all night with Gilbert Gottfried" as well as Joe-Bob Brigg's and Elvira's shows. They need to bring stuff like that back.

American Bandstand was popular, but jivin' to Soul Train was the thing back then in my hood (Detroit). I also remember when SNL was funny...decades ago.
I don't remember Don Kirshner, but I do remember a feller by the name of Don Cornelius.

The only one I know is American Bandstand. Since I commuted close to an hour to school from first grade through 12th grade, I was never up late watching TV. American Bandstand was in the afternoons after school.

Pete Xavier is giving up a bit of his age with "Soul Train" and "Don Cornelius". Then again, I remember them to along with American Bandstand.

American Bandstand is the only one I remember. We had a TV but rarely watched it when I was growing up. I was always too busy participating in after-school activities, studying, or doing other things. I don't ever remember watching TV during my college days.

I watched a few on occasion during HS and Jr High.
When I got to college though we had MTV in the basement of the dorms and that was a great thing to watch while doing late night studying.

I played in a rock band and we all watched those TV music shows.
I grew up in Appalachia, hilly, rural western PA, coal-mining country. We originally had only two local TV channel choices: clear (NBC) or fuzzy (CBS). ChannelMaster TV antenna near the top of the coal furnace chimney.
We first had a Zenith black and white TV console with vacuum tubes. I was fascinated when the TV repairman would come for a repair visit to replace a bad vacuum tube in a socket.
Later, we got a color TV and a private cable TV system, organized, funded and built by ambitious neighbors, above the dairy farm on top of the hill, facing Pittsburgh. Clear TV reception was a miracle!
I am old enough to remember the Ted Mack Amateur Hour on black and white TV. He had lots of true amateurs and some newly discovered acts that later became famous. Different types of talent. TV viewers would vote for acts by sending a postcard to NYC.
He was not a big fan of emerging rock and roll music and long hair introduced by The Beatles. His show turned down Elvis Presley...
Here is an old video from 1964 with The Gentrys singing Now That I Can Dance. They later became famous for their hit Keep On Dancing.

Talk about a blast from the past! Dick Clark knew how to host American Bandstand and so did Don Cornelius of Soul Train and Wolfman Jack on the Midnight Special. Loved them!

I was too young for those shows to catch my interest when they were live and some we just didn't get. But American Bandstand we watched every weekend as we did Soul Train to watch the dancers and pick up moves.
But, I watch them all now on YouTube, especially The Midnight Special.

American Bandstand and a few similar others made perfect sense in the early days. Record promotors got what they wanted. band managers the same, the public enjoyed watching/listening & the show entertained. Today, pod casts, YouTube and anyone's video makes the rounds. The magic is gone but the relevance and purpose remain. I have limited interest today

Fred Griffin Florida Real Estate - I was definitely a fan of American Bandstand. I really loved the interviews by Dick Clark. We got to know new groups, singers, or musicians and hear interesting answers by guests. In my house, I would dance by myself trying to be a virtual participant. LOL! I never heard of the others you mentioned.
