From what I know, the fear of clowns is most common in children, especially girls. Research indicates as many as 10 in 1000 children fear clowns, mostly girls.  

The most common phobia is Arachnophobia. 

I've heard of it, but have yet to meet anyone who has it. I do know several people, however, who've worked as clowns as a "side gig."

Given the number of clowns in politics these days, fear is real.

Not until we got one in the White House and congress!

I have no fear, but I know it exists, and clowns are mostly feared by other clowns (see John Juarez answer).  Needless to say, I think Barney and Bailey have a whole college somewhere in FL if I recall which produces these fearful people.

I don't know anyone with this issue, and have never been afraid of clowns.

No names come to mind when I think of those I know of having coulrophobia Peter Mohylsky . I know plenty of people who don't care for them but that is far different than a person who would actually have a medically certifiable panic attack from seeing or being around one. 

I have no clue. 

Personally, I have no issue with clowns other than those in politics and the talking-head clowns on lamestream news! 

However, I detest mime clowns. Not fear them - detest them!

I'm not aware of anyone I know having a fear of clowns. I do know people who aren't big fans of clowns. 🤡Of course, Bozo the clown was on TV when I was a kid and seemed harmless.

Not me but other people are afraid of them. Stephen King made some $$'s off them.

I'm not sure Peter, I know my wife doesn't like them and stays away from them. She says they give her the creeps.

I actually attended clown school.  I don't do any clowning, but I do balloon entertainment.  Check out my website before you judge me.  A long time ago, this was my full-time gig.  

I have done hundreds of gigs with children and adults.  I don't wear a costume, but I know a bunch of clowns and used to hang out with them and do gigs with them.  There are a LOT of former Ringling performers who live in and near Orlando.  

So here is what I can tell you...  I have never met an adult who is afraid of clowns.  I have met adults who think clowns are stupid, but dislike is not the same as fear.  That doesn't mean that clown-phobia doesn't exist.  It means it is extremely rare.

A lot of people became afraid of clowns after Stephen King's movie, IT and then Pennywise: The Story of IT. Fright at it's best!

I had a client with this years ago....it was interesting.

There are a few in Real Estate that I fear.

I worked with a Buyer once that FREAKED OUT when we went to an outbuilding on a property that was filled with clown memorabilia, photos, costumes, etc.  I never saw anything like it before or since.

I have heard of it, but do not know anyone, who has it. I like the song.

I have heard of this more in the past few years.  It is a real thing, however, clowns are as real as Big Foot.  They are just people dressed up to be clowns.

Not inn my playbook. Have only met one person who displayed symptoms at a costume party. Not pretty!

I have always disliked clowns and magicians both.  (add in Santa Claus too as I'd never sit on his lap)   I don't like tricksters or people hiding their true selves in any way, shape or form.  Call it a phobia or call it realism.

My eldest daughter was scared of clowns, even clown dolls.  Until then, I didn't know it was a "thing". Someone I know actually married a professional clown, a "high end" one, Cirque de Soleil-type. He's fun to be with, as if he's always on stage, entertaining; can't imagine what it's like to live with him.
