Shockingly it is not.  Then again, who makes these lists, and what qualifies them to determine "overvalued"?

I did not see a definition of "overvalued" in the article. What does "overvalued" mean. Prices across the country have gone up since the start of the pandemic. Do the writers expect a price drop of 50-70% in the markets mentioned. That is what I call "fake news".

If they are selling they are NOT over-valued.
Houses are selling in my piece of Florida.
Not as briskly as a month ago but still selling with very little adjustment regarding price.
Florida, and my region, TAMPA are well represented on the list.

Yes, it is. I'm not surprised. They basically have the hottest markets on this list. Is Raleigh overvalues? Hard to say. We have many tech companies moving here and some sources say we're going to have another big housing wave.  Part of what has made our prices go up is we're becoming more densely populated. So, affordable housing has been pushed out of town. It is hard to get much of anything for under $400k in Wake County which is where Raleigh is located.

According to a media outlet getting paid for clicks and peddling fear?  

Inventory is being outpaced by household formations, until that changes, articles like this are nothing more than speculative fear mongering.  Some markets could see pricing come back down to earth, especially as some of these hot newly metro markets (Boise, SLC, ATX) realize the infrastructure (read: higher taxes) needs that the new population booms are going to bring, but nationwide, inventory isn't keeping pace with demand, and if (when) rates come down, demand will pick up even further.

Not sure how much credence I give this.  Chicago (my region) is pretty far down the list... but Cleveland (where my daughter lives) shows as 39% over-valued... and in my opinion... Cleveland prices are amazingly reasonable.

Nope and I wonder how they got that list.  It is an interesting reading but it is history as we enter the third quarter of the year.  

Carmel-by-the-Sea was ranked #2 in California for home values going up (right after Sea Ranch).  I think you'd need to wait a long long time for prices to go down here.  Although the rise is probably being checked a bit right now since they may not sell on day one with over asking prices as they did earlier in the year.

How can they state "Overvalued" when you have buyers willing and able to purchase above the "Asking Price" and be foolish enough to sign "Appraisal Waivers" ... 

I'm not clear on what criteria are being used to determine overvalued. San Diego is not on this particular list but we have shown in others. Amazing how many housing market lists there are out there these days.

Yep, in my opinion, most of our towns in Los Angeles County are regardless of any article that likely has no true research in it or based on Z. lists.

Great headliner without a backbone. I agree with many of my fellow agents here that unless you don't know the local micro economy and specific type of housing you are discussing these stats are useless. Being in the DC metro area of Northern Virginia we have low unemployment but affordability is a challenge.

I doubt that the people who made up this list have ever heard of our town.

My selling area did not make it and many of the places that were listed are not even desirable. Happy to help people looking to buy here!
