Excellent outstanding service is all that my clients want/expect.  The key to their new home is the Big Bang.  Take care of your clients and they will be loyal to you. Mine certainly are.

First...the buying experience must be satisfactory...better than expectations, in fact. The opinion of the buyer regarding the agent's skill, knowledge, experience level, personality mesh, and more will determine the likelihood of future referrals.

Then, after a nice closing gift, I add the new client to our monthly newsletter mailing list to keep my name in front of them.

And more...

I give them a gift card to a fancy restaurant in town.

I live by my mantra:

My task is to help them buy a home.  My job is to have a client for life.

I personalize when I can. One of my clients loves D&D and I'll be getting them a wall decoration for their new game room. Personally, I love gift giving so I just want them to be happy but I want them to love it so much that they're telling their friends about it and I'm staying top of mind.

Personalized closing gifts, staying in touch and inviting them to all my client appreciation events. Your service alone is not enough, because good to great service is expected. Go beyond expectation or be mediocre. I like to create WOW!

The Big Bang comes at the end of a long fuse. You start excellent out of the gate, you stay excellent throughout, you accomplish your aim. Lather rinse repeat. Happy clients tell good clients about you.

The BIG BANG is presenting the key to them at closing.   Provide excellent service to them the entire transaction, and they will brag to everyone around them about you.   THAT will bring you more clients.

There is  title company here that uses confetti cannons at their closings.  I think it is so hokey.  I guess they think it makes a big bang.  I think it makes them seems childish and out-of-touch with business norms.  Confetti cannons are the norm at a sporting events, weddings, or New Year's Eve party.  They are not the norm at the conclusion of a business transaction.

Make your splash by being professional beyond reproach.

It depends. I sometimes give a gift but not always. I try to make sure and take a photo of them in front of their new home. Especially if they're a first time homebuyer. I also try to make the closing light and fun so they walk out feeling good.

Make sure I give them more of my business cards and remind them in 30 days I want to do a house warming party for them and I will do all the cooking and they can invite between 20 and 40 people.
