Why on earth would I dread Christmas - It's my birthday! I love the Christmas season and everything that surrounds it! As for Memorial Day weekend I'm so looking forward to our Taco Party with a lot of friends that we are hosting pool side...along with either bocce ball or corn hole games! Bring on the friends and fun!

I do not dread Christmas shopping since I only have one person for whom to shop...my wife. She is happy to take care of any other needed gift shopping for others.

Christmas is my husband's favorite holiday and I enjoy watching him get excited about what the holiday brings! We have no plans for the Memorial Day weekend.

I jot down ideas all year round of what I hear people mentioning likes and dislikes. There is nothing I like more than finding the perfect gift for family. I have never given nor received money or gift cards as they scream I don't care to learn what you like. (unless that is specifically asked for, it is not a gift in my opinion.) To see the look of surprise and joy when they open a gift they were not expecting is priceless. To have them remember and say "how did you know I was looking for or thinking of that in July?" The magic of Christmas is alive and well all year long.

Oh my gosh, no. I don't dread anything. Especially Christmas. Last year we walked up our hill to cut down a tree, had great fun decorating it, and had some family members visit right around the holiday. We didn't worry about gifts. We made cookies. Fun, fun, fun.

I do not dread Christmas. These days it usually means I get to see one or both of my kids, cook something I don't always cook, decorate, and appreciate the season. Gifts are only a part of it. In my family we ask each other what they want. I buy a few gifts outside of my family but not a lot.

Not really. We just ask each other what we want. That's difficult at times though since if we want something we just go and get it.

Whats to dread about it?
Clearly if you think that Christmas is about getting and giving gifts then you may have missed the point.
Perhaps a refocus will allow you to stop dreading this and focus on other things for the next 224 days.

Holidays are permission, type celebration events and to the many, some preparation is required. It does require a focus/plan. As to Xmas itself & the reason for it, giving thanks to the Creator continuously only requires heart

Why dread it? If you don't celebrate it as a religious holiday, it's still great for all the spirit and getting together with family and friends.

Don't see any excitement for Memorial Day building here in Chicago. Hope people will remember the 4th of July. So, Christmas is not on the radar yet!
