Johm,

Some agent do succeed at doing it.  We certainly could have sold our own home, and in the process missed on $$$$ to save $$.  We  listed it and go exactly what we wanted.  We had a great agent. A

You would think that he would have more important things to do with his time than answering phone calls and showing his home.

I have always said that if I was not a broker, myself, I would never sell as a FSBO.

I have done it but frown on doing it again. If one is tight for funds, so be it. If not, to remove ones self from the front lines is wise

I am a big fan of Elon Musk but if he is choosing to do FSBO that is not a good decision on his part.

Some how I don't see Elon publishing his cell number so I can come over to see his home.

I would not.  I want someone else to deal with all the work.  Also, sometimes it helps to have an agent to create some distance.  There is a reason that negotiations are often done through lawyers and it's not always because their legal expertise is necessary.

If I list my home in the MLS, is that not FSBO?  ;-)

Try no. Do and did , yes. I've FSBO'd all my houses of course and I've represented myself on all my purchases too. I've had team members help me, but essentially I've never been represented on any sale or purchase.

Not a chance. With his stature this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I have been licensed since the early 70's bought and sold several properties and never represnted myself.

I'm thinking it was just overpriced. There are many people that just want to  buy whatever the guy touches. It did state that he will not be buying any real estate in any area he lives in the future.

If I sell to an iBuyer who contacted me and is paying market value is that called FSBO?
If yes, then yes.
If I was inclined to sell my home and leveraged it in a pocket pool there are significant upsides to that, especially in this market.
If I were inclined to sell my FLORIDA home would I represent myself? Yes, it's in FLORIDA.

So now he thinks he is a REALTOR too?   That is just silly, he should hire a professional.

I would bet his attorney and accountant and their companies were handling the details of the sale.  I think it didn't sell, perhaps, because my ex-wife lives near there...  Just specualtion on my part.

I would not nor have I ever. I might represent myself as a seller which is allowed but I would pay a co-op broker fee and would prefer the buyer have a broker. I would also go above and beyond. I like things nice and tidy.

I'm thinking along the same lines as Ryan Huggins - Thousand Oaks, CA

Would I do this?  If I did, I would need to add this to my E&O insurance policy. As of now, I am not covered to represent myself on the sale of my own properties.

I would try to sell to someone I know or through someone that knows someone that I know but would never publicize a home for sale and not paying a commission to the buyer's agent.  I have never taken a listing that would not pay a buyer's agent a commission.  I personally feel that doing so is abuse of one's real estate license.

I had sold several of my own properties myself, prior to entering the real estate business.  One sold for the highest price in the building ever. It is one of the reasons I got into the business in the first place.  I don't know if I would ever be able to trust another agent to sell my home now if I'm being completely honest.  The story of living in a tiny community!

Hi,  John Juarez

I'm not going to put a FSBO sign in my yard, but my company sign will be in front of my house.  Of course I will put it in MLS and offer a good split to cooperating Brokers.

(If I can't sell my own house, what makes me think I can sell someone else's house?)
