Vimeo is a great alternate, as others have said.  It's not owned by Google, so there is no excessive tracking, like on youtube.  The downside is that it doesn't have the "mind share" or eyeballs that YT does, and because G doesn't own it, they bury it in the search results.

A free account has limits on storage and daily uploads, which have never been a problem for me.  I post videos to both Vimeo and YT.  My video gallery is a plugin that only works with YT, but on my listing detail pages I embedd the Vimeo video.  I don't see Rumble or Gab.TV as being good alternates at this time.

Another popular site is Vimeo. But as far as popularity YouTube, I think, wins out. And given that Google owns it, guess who gets favored in search results!

There's vimeo, but often when you need to embed a video a platform will only accept a youtube link, I've found.

Way beyond my paygrade, but Vimeo gets a nod as a possibility. Ken Jones, way more techie than me likes Vimeo!

Yes there's Vimeo.  It's also free.  Each platform has it's pros and cons.  Neither is perfect.  Maybe something else will come along.

Vimeo is the only reliable one I know.

Have to disagree with Ken with videos on YT. Mine always get found, it depends on of course they keywords & title line just like any other post. I do not know if anyone has done any investigative work on V vs. YT on that subject though.

Youtube seems to have won this one, the alternatives do not compare.

We are Vimeo fans as are our clients.  Like you we have always had philosophical differences with You Tube.  And the best part of vimeo is that you can have your video appear as if  it is on your own channel.

I have the capability of hosting videos on my VPS.  They would be embed from my server link.  The issue with that is I would be forever tied to paying for that server whereas, with YT, I do not pay.

I have used Vimeo, but YouTube is Google, and gets more SEO.

Vimeo & Wistia both offer video embed options that can be shared.  As a true youtube alternative (video with more of a social media aspect) Rumble is the only one I'm aware of.  I use Vimeo or the BombBomb platform which also offers embed codes when you record video there.

I use Vimeo where branding is not an issue and Wellcomemat for their non branded player which I need for posing on the MLS systems. Good luck!
