I'm sure I have. I can't think of the specific instances (plural, 'cause I'm sure it's happened more than once). I don't have a lot of energy to fight ignorance... as you point out... it's easier to just fill out both amendments.

What about making it efficient? Sounds like someone who likes to do things the hard way or 'the way it's always been done'.

I usually opt to educate the other person if something can be done in a simpler manner, but I totally get not wanting to take extra time to explain and or argue with someone that doesn't know what they are doing or might be set in their ways.

Like you, I've learned to pick my battles! While this is not a battle, some agents just don't want to learn of a different way to do things. I call it stuck in a rut!
If I'm talking to them and feel they may be open to learning, I will take that teaching moment. Otherwise, like you, if it accomplishes the same goal and they've already gotten their signatures, I just follow suit!

Perhaps the other agent had a purpose for wanting two separate amendments and that reason was not discussed.

It has been my experience that many agents want to short cut or fight the process and not provide what the other agent considered to be important documentation. Why fight with them? We're supposed to be working together for the benefits of our clients

I like to show my agents the right way to do it. Sometimes it is easier in that cas eto just have it signed, but i like them to know what is right and what wrong, as well as what is easier and why

Tammy Lankford,
You handled this well. You understood the need to be right is outweighed by the competitive nature of representing a buyer in a hot seller's market, and acquiescing to the demand of the listing agent in no way causes prejudice to your client.
You also understood that listing agent isn't wrong per se, or you wouldn't have complied. An extra amendment was unnecessary, as you said, but not actually wrong. In this case, the path of least resistance was the way to go.

I've found that agents from different brokerages and their transaction coordinators can have different requirements in order to complete their file. There are times when I have balked on behalf of my clients because it put my clients at potential risk down the road. They THEN said, but then YOU have to sign on their behalf. UH...UH. So, as Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist says in her comment, it may come back to bite us.

I do not do well with "dummy" agents...especially if it is regarding contracts.
How can you try to convince someone that slept through the class?
I don't argue...I just prove them wrong.
I refuse to do stupid things just to be a pal...

Tammy, here two amendments might be used if one were a price adjustment needed by lender and if the other amendment involved certain personal items or other topic not monetarily significant.
This might happen when parties wish to document agreed responsibilities not addressed in the standard agreement of sale.

Oh yes. Sometimes it is just easier to let someone else smush the shit out of the dumb agent doing things wrong and just get your deal closed.
They can be wrong and enjoy their wrongness. Sooner or later they will end up in a pickle and it won't be on my deal as it will be done!

I make the trade-off decision more often than I'd like. Would require educating the state association and a whole lot of agents on some forms.

An alternative way is not equal to a WRONG way.
The way I do things is always the RIGHT way in my world, but my world is not very crowded.
As long as the alternative does not end with repeating efforts, I will go along.

I make things more difficult on myself quite often. Not by design, just by nature.

Not usually because they need to be educated in efficiency and not wasting resources. You can't really fix stupid but you can say you tried.
6,424,502
I would have just written the one amendment, explained why, and suggested they talk to my broker if they need more explanation on this.
3,590,291
Sure....chose and move... is how I think of that stuff. Some folks take way to much time and waste my time and others. But, had it been an agent that worked for us, that would have been different. I would insist they do it correctly and there were consequences if not done on time.
