When a buyer wants to look at property without getting pre-approved first. I often finesse something like this...

"Sure thing, lets go look at property! But, lets scrub the $400,000 Downtown condo you selected and instead we'll  go look at some $15,000,000 coastal La Jolla homes!  They are much more fun to tour, and you have as much of a chance buying one of them as you do this condo without a pre-approval. Now, here's Jason E. Gordon's info, lets get'ya pre-approved!"
