Never hired anyone to do these little fixes, but based on the allocation of resources they have parked in your yard, I would expect that they think you are a big spender.

Best to always get a firm quote before the wrenches leave the truck.

I went through an extensive plumbing adventure that involved installing fiuve new faucets and one new toilet two months ago.  The grand total was $1,375.  That was what I was quoted and that's what it stayed.  Involved three plumbers in my house for the better part of an afternoon.

I'm guessing you will be under $1,000 if you provided the faucets.

I'll be curious to see but, if you bought the fixtures, probably $750. If not, about $1,000, depending upon the quality of the fixture and where it was purchased. 

I had a contractor in my home today too, Fred - doing a honey-do list for me that had been mounting up!

Sounds like regular stuff in a house aged 1985. Shower diverter replacement can be a hell of a project if you don't know what you are doing.

Is it Cost+, Time & Material, or Fixed Cost? I believe my buddy that is a plumber charges $90/hr. So it appears to be approximately $180/hr. So I'd need the hours they are there to better questimate things.

My guess is $175 to come out to see you and $75 per hour, plus parts. That's $812.50, but you always  need parts, so $1000 is a good starting point, but that's only for one guy. You could always use the Caronavirus thing, and maybe they have something like no payments until 2021. BTW, how the pickup looks will tell you everything. If it's nice and shiny, run!!

If you have 'people' the total is less that $1.000 plus parts.

If you called the TV people,  $1,700 plus parts.

If the owner does it, $2,500 plus parts for the re-do.

 

I am noticing contractor trucks are EVERYWHERE. Just this week 4 houses on my street received a load of sand on the drive. Shelter in place is being used productively.
