They are calling back. No secret... well... if it's a secret, it lies in our relationship. They know my inquiry is genuine and not a sales call.

No secret. I have more people to call but I have either reached everyone on the first call, or they called me back promptly!

The 'secret' is knowing who you are calling.
If they were at your BBQ last weekend, you call to find out if they left behind the book you found. When they respond, 'What's a book?" that may indicate you did not customize the message.
If they are dormant, not active in real estate, avoid the 'just checking in' message because such a message is NOT BELIEVABLE. Instead, chose a message the offers something useful FOR THEM. This list is limited only by the mind of the caller.
If they are never mets or long forgotten, be a voice of clarity, a voice from the wilderness, that speaks not of today's confusion but of tomorrow hope. Acknowledging this situation will change and being prepared for a return to the new normal is the purpose for your call. The 'What GOOD has come from C-19, the actual behavioral changes, could be a place to start. Maybe the revelation that high school kids have proven completely inept at using a computer suggest a place to invest effort to create resources.
All of this takes WORK. It's not a DFU proposition. But in the end you will have your 'SECRET" that you recognize is simply the product of putting in the work. Then when others ask for 'your secret' you know their intent.

I'm leaving messages, but get few calls returned. People are busy at home with kids and work... I don't worry about it. I figure they know that I reached out and that was the intent in the first place.

No secret sauce. They know my heart cares and I am not selling them anything or begging for referrals. They are happy to talk with me. Some of my clients have reached out to me before I reached out to them.

I am not calling. I just don't know what to talk about besides how everyone is depressed staying at home. Many are touting that we should be calling them to offer our help. I think getting help is waiting for the mailman & your stimulus check not talking to a realtor.
I am sending my newsletters as usual.

I haven't left that many messages - most are home and welcoming the 'different' conversation though! The ones that I've left messages for, I have heard back from. So far, not missing any return calls...yet!

I'm getting 60% to answer when I call.
I'm getting the next 25% to text back, email or call backs to my messages left.
About 15% do not call back at all. That's OK. I'll just try them again once I've completed round 1.

Some yes and some no. I am not sure calling everyone is a good idea, som do not want to be bothered no matter whose calling. Ithers were very lonely and loved beingu able to talk to someone.

I mailed out handwritten cards, but my video, less than a minute, checking in and offering to run an errand, walk their dog( but absolutely will not share toilet paper stash LOL, has resonated and I've heard back from 75% of the folks I sent it to

It really depends on what kind of relationship I've established with my clients. Several have become friends and then I do text on a regular basis to see how they are doing. If they then want to chat, I'm available for them. But to make bald faced real estate call? It doesn't feel right. When I see a particular home that I think is good for someone, then email from my MLS.

That is what drives me crazy! I hate it when people don't return calls, emails or text messages. It really leaves us with a feeling of wonder and it seems our mind will often rush to the negative possibilities.

I just ask them how they are doing and if they need anything. My clients seem to appreciate this a lot. :)

Paul,
I am beginning to feel like there is too much focus on this issue. I just want to have fun, chat and laugh...So tired of the emphasis on it. A
