I use that Captcha for one of my email forms as it got spammed a couple of weeks ago as I was getting hundreds of email sign ups. It did the trick.
I would NEVER consider it as entrance to my site. Terrible for user experience and would prob destroy SEO. And, taxes your hosting resources anyway.

I personally hate recaptcha, half the time I fill it out wrong or I see more traffic lights than they do.
I used Clean Talk spam filter/firewall when I briefly allowed comments on my articles. It was good a blocking/preventing spam comments (which were all I got and why I no longer allow comments).

No, if I, as a user, had to click on anything to get to a website, I wouldn't go.

None. Because they can get the same information on so many others sites without jumping through any hopes.

I'd ask PropertyMinder (AccelerAgent) as they are my website provider. I leave all that to them.

it is a necessary evil. Gotta use it or some other form reactive gate keeping.
Maybe a 'bitcoin' slot.

Yes, I have it. I've had it for years. Until I had it I got way too much spam mail/leads.

I despise it as a consumer so I would never subject anyone else to it! I always get it wrong by seeing more than it does. I then lie and try the option for the blind - wow is that an eye opener (no pun intended) It tells you very rapidly to type some very lengthy response in that is impossible to grasp. Annoying and frustrating to say the least.

Spam? Sure, but I have never gotten more spam than i could handle so never saw it as a necessity. It drives potential leads away and it costs too much money to get leads to put any kind of road block in their way. I have never been afraid of the delete button even though some see it as an insurmountable task .

I don't have reCaptcha on any websites. I've seen it, used it & have taken away some good ideas for passwords from it.
