Today I got 11 emails asking to guest blog on my site. That was 11 clicks into spam.

Two different things at play here.

1) When someone asks to guest blog on your website, they are looking to get backlinks - it's an SEO play.

2) Influencer posts are done for the eyeballs - it's an advertising/marketing play.

It could be a combination of the two if the website guest blogging has a huge number of visitors, but, that's often not the case.

I found it interesting that Twitter was the lowest paying of all of the social networks. Does it have to do with the popularity of the site (how many 'members') or the class of those members?!!

Could I get paid?  Possibly.  Is it something I am inclined to do?  Not likely.

This is not a new concept...Every movie star who an agency agrees to represent is told a set of rules upfront. Rule #1: Don't believe what we say about you and #2: we get a percentage of everything you make. $$$ there

LOL I hyped other people's businesses on the air for over 20 years, and got paid for doing so. So that's a yes.

In our business . . . it may be doable and yet careful avoidance of 'bias' would be tricky.

A lot of money can be made!  However at that point one is biased, which is something we do not want to be...we have been offered "influencer" positions and have refused.  It does not match our brand or who we are.

A good friend of ours used to review the luxury goods industry.  Some of the brands sent her expensive gifts which she sent back.  If they insisted that she keeps the item, she would disclose on the site that they refused to take it back.

Walt Mossberg who used to review tech for the Wall Street, sent every single gadget back that he was sent to review...

In real estate, agents are better served focusing on building trusted client relaionships, testing their marketing and watering their farm.

Hype is a fleeting thing.  Here today, gone tomorrow.  When the ____ hits the fan in a transaction, hype's not gonna help you!

I'm such a small speck in the universe that I could not think that my "influence" had any bearings at all. Well, except for my fellow agents that has no clue about the procedures that are needed, selling a mobile home.

Influencers - my mind thinks "fake" news.  This also causes my mind to think of all the fake agent reviews out there - the good, the bad, and the horribly ugly. I focus my time and energy on positive, constructive marketing.  Paid influences ... no, thank you.

If I'm ever paid for being an "influencer" then either I'm so super successful as a real estate Broker that I don't need their money, or I've failed at life so hard that all I have to show is a boat load of followers because of stupid borderline pornographic pics.
