I think that is why i am seeing so many relocation buyers from CA, NY, CT and MA. I just had my first relocation from DC. and she already referred a 2nd.

My thoughts were West Coast and East Coast primarily. Colorado and Utah must be a haven for people leaving the coasts.

I would have guessed between California and New York was the top 2. Third would have been Washington. Anyway, I found my paradise in Lancaster, CA and I love my mobile home but not the location. Utah? Hmm, I had no idea.

Owning any premium property soon will be beyond the average persons grasp. As to owning property in general, certain areas with low-end product will take-off and it is wise to purchase. However, consider that in 20-30 years, will anything be affordable? Own versus rent may present a dividing line

This article is using the median home price to establish the highed PRICED houses. The highest priced houses are not necessarily the most expensive if the area income matches the cost. A $300k house is too expensive in an area where everyone is making minimum wage income but cheap where the average income is $150k. Likewise a $1m house is cheap in silicon valley. These top 10 articles are almost always just full of crap.

And the cheapest? Must be Mississippi, Kentucky and Tennesse, or anywhere in the Midwest. Go work in the most expensive states, then retire in the cheapest states and you would love retirement. Doesn't work the other way around though

Like Michael Jacobs I am surprised by Utah.  We were just there, and compared to CA, it is reasonable.  Now, if they are using numbers from the ski resorts, that may be true, altough I doubt.  If you have taken a course in statistics, the first thing a smart professor will tell you is "Statistics LIE'
