agree. Only once before for me & it was the same thing. They forgot they needed to stay in contact. This was years before when there was only land lines around.

Once.  I had short sale clients take off on a family vacation and did not think to notify me. Of course, that is when we NEED them. I knew the person who referred the clients to me, she knew their parents, called the parents and that is how we learned they were not abducted by a mother ship. 

An interesting solution that I have not needed.

We didn't do a wellness check, but hahahah looooooooong ago, I had a listing where, unknown to me, the KIDS wanted the DAD to sell the property - not the dad himself. The daughter was POC. Dad signed it. We got an offer, I forwarded it to dad and kids, no one was responding. After a few days, called seller to talk about it, he kept feckin' hanging up on me! I'm like whaaaaah? The kids weren't responding. So I sent a Certified letter to him and the kids telling them that they owed me a commission as it was a full price offer, and I was going to proceed legally to collect. ANOTHER kid THEN called me and said look, Julie made Dad sign it, he doesn't want to sell it, Julie's trying to get money. I told her maybe I'll sue yall anyway for annoying me, better get a lawyer. LOL she was terrified. We cancelled the listing and they got scared straight.  Big lesson for me. I gotta talk to the decision maker, even if he does sign -- I am not dealing with a gatekeeper unless it is the attorney or POA for the principal.

It happens, two wellness checks of friends in the past year resulted in funerals.

Yep, the disappearing seller.

He inherited Mom's condo and decided to cash out so listed with me.

In the interim, he become a fugitive on the run.

This is real....he took a trip to Syria and has not been heard from since.  You can not guess the hours spent with all the powers that be, knowing no reward lay ahead. No reward but....their question was, 'Have you traveled outside the country?"

Clever ploy. If someone doesn't want to be found, why bother him?

Gosh, never happened to me. 

I imagine clients have "disappeared"  for many of us and for lots of different reasons. So far law enforcement hasn't been involved for any situation I can recall.

Yes  Andrew about 5 years ago a friend/client of ours since 1989 didn't answer her phone for 2 days.  She also had health issues so I was getting concerned.  I called that city police station and asked for a welfare check. They were out there within an hour. Thankfully she was fine. She forgot to plug her phone back in. Why it was out I don't know. She had had a stroke and sometimes didn't remember things. Very sweet lady.

I have never had the need to do a wellness check. Life can get strange and you never know...I might have to do one tomorrow.

Never had to call one in, but have seen many done over the years.  Glad this one had a positive outcome.  I hate it when it turns out they died in their sleep several days ago...

I had a seller leave the country for work at the last minute - I had asked if they were traveling when I took the listing - took a few days to get in touch. But that's it.

I try to do wellness checks on past clients with phone calls

A wellness check or a Recent Arrests check. People disappear for lots of reasons.

Seller didn't sign documents. He was anxious to sell. Days later I went to his house. No answer. Weeks later I checked the MLS to see if he had listed with someone else. Nope. Called for a wellness check. He'd been dead on the floor for weeks {the ramifications of that is a whole story!} and NO ONE KNEW! Not even his son who lived in town! Made me so very sad.

Oh wow! I haven't had that experience - I would lose sleep, worried sick about my seller!

No experience here but I learn something new almost every day, 

Never had a seller disappear for a long period. Did have one who was determined to live in a mobile home and travel who checked in occasionally when he stopped at a park before mobile phones. 

We have done them on tenants but never on a seller
