Peter thanks to all those who pulled me in to this question here are my two cents...Davies rule references the MA Congressman & his partner  Jacka.. Also known as Dodd/Frank rule. My take is that  they have hurt the lenders as well as the Real Estate Industry in more ways than I can describe. It was written to “help” consumers as well as consumers who are considering buying dwellings. Now keep in mind I live in California and I cannot give legal advice, with that said I am fairly sure that vacant land with no improvements will not be considered under the Davies rule of dwellings. Hence, I would suspect it does not fall under or should I say would be excluded from all the Special Rules that the Davies Rule has been imposed by Dodd-Frank but you better get an attorney to confirm this…

If only valuation of land could be that regimented, we use similar rules for calculating resources on the land but I suspect that buyers of lots do not care about these small slice differences.

It might be referring to the Ray Davies Rule...when you sealed a good land deal, you'd dance your "happy dance" to one of the Kinks tunes, perhaps the "Come Dancing" tune. I'm not totally sure of the rules...

 You got me. We didn’t study Davies rule in my real estate school.

 

It turns out it is:

“Table based on the following formula, for estimating the value of strips of lot 25 feet wide, from one inch to one hundred and twenty-five feet, for each inch of depth, and from one hundred and twenty-five feet, to two hundred feet for each foot of depth,”

I have sold land before - I am no land specialist- but land I've listed has sold. Having said that I have never heard of this  rule. My natural curiousity took over & I Googled it yesterday, when you had 1st posted it. I was left rather speachless at the explanation; hence the comment a day late. I'm sure someone somewhere will find this rule helpful.
