My opinion on this may not be like the others. What's new?

In show business if your photo DOES NOT LOOK LIKE YOU when you walk into the casting director's office, you are immediately negatively judged. If you can't be counted on to look like you, you may be questioned on what else you are not forthcoming about.

I see people who look nothing like their pics.
I think when you change appearance, your marketing needs to show it.
I am due for new as well and this pic is 6 months old. I am even more fabulous now! LMFAOOOO
The dog is even grumpier!

STORY - I was at grocery store yesterday and a guy in the line next to me says "Hey, you're the Next Wave lady, aren't you!" This struck fear as the last time someone recognized me in public, the a-hole accused me of being rude (I wasn't, HE WAS and I hung up on him) and menacingly said 'Now I have a face to put with the voice'

well idiot I am in magazines every month so F you!

ANYHOO, I asked the guy yesterday who are you and how do you know me? "Mark, and I see you in Facebook chatting with the Bee (online newspaper)" (photo from June 27 2019)
OK! "Hey Mark send me a buyer for one of my properties and your next beard trim is on me!" (He has a 'braided beard')

So it is good to look like you! Even at grocery store with messy hair and no makeup!

As long as people I meet for the first time tell me I look just like my picture, I don't need to change it. Then there are those people whom I meet and insist they've met me before.... they haven't. They've just see my picture around town on signs and ads. Fortunately, I also don't change my hairstyle... it's been the same give or take an inch for decades.

If it is not broken why fix? However keeping current, accurate and truthful has a say so too. Movie stars suffer from this. They are captured at the height and breath of their fame and remembered that way. Seeing them outside of that shocks and takes-away. The subject is subjective.....let each one handle

I've seen agents and vendors with what was their high school yearbook portrait photo... from 20 years ago on their signatures, cards, etc.  Personally, I keep my photo off of everything except my profile pic here and on my website and a few dozen other random sites.  I'm probably due for one in a few years, now that my hair is getting more grey.  LOL.

I update mine fairly often. Just had new ones done so, in the next couple of weeks, I'll make the rounds & change them.

I don't think there's a 'too old' for business cards & social media but, you couldn't pay me to put my picture on my sign - not even in my younger years!

I'm trying to sell houses, not show off a fake 'glamor shot' of myself! LOL

I really need to update my picture as my hair is longer again. I am not very good about updating my pictures anywhere. I did update my fb photo last week after having the same one for almost 3 years.

If using your photo in advertising, I agree with others that you should look like your photo. After all, you are using your image to advertise.

The real questsion is 'Why is this a question?"

It is marketing. If the photo used leads to a meet up, it was SUCCESSFUL. The picture could be a monkey or the very bet picture the agent ever had taken. Once you meet the suspect, that is when you go to the A Game.

The thing about this question is it is absolutely about agent vanity.

What Dan Pittsenbarger said. For women it might be more often because we tend to change our hairstyles more often.  Not all women but many do. I once had a broker who used a glamour photo on her business cards and all advertising.  Big mistake IMHO.

I would under promise and over deliver rather than the other way around. LOL
