Yes, but I don't have time to police the rest of the planet. Wonder if the publication was just a scraper?
Here's an example that always happens to me: Listing has 3.5 BA's & all the website round up to 4. You don't round up on anything in real estate.

It's privately funded advertising. The State that licenses that Agent could enforce penalties against them & their brokerage. Now in CT our MLS would be allover it. They enforce fines & all sorts of physical & mental pain on you if you advertise ANYTHING that isn't on MLS. If you sell real estate here make sure you follow the rules or you'll pay the price! $$$$$$$

I would certainly think so Peter Mohylsky, SoWal Is HOME. but as others are saying... who is going to police it and to what end? Maybe you could confiscate the coffee table as evidence if it's a really nice table.

Actually I was looking at how my listing looks on the internet and REaltor.com, redfin and some others got it all wrong with misinformation. How they can do this I do not know Peter Mohylsky, SoWal Is HOME.

On the surface this does sound like deceptive advertising, but I'd need to know much more about what happened here before opining. Is it possible that a printing mistake was made?

WOW! False/incorrect advertising rules also apply to print material - the rules we follow began with print marketing regulations!
Absolutely misleading, Peter.

We are all going to JAIL or be fined or both.
Holding agents responsible for things for which they have no control is a slippery slope. Since the industry wide and UNAVOIDABLE demands to syndication, agents have lost all control of their data....and it's the BROKERS and FRANCHISES who created this mess.
And, yes, like the tone of this question, the brokers/associations really don't give a whit if an agent needs to spend 5 hours a day to see what others have done with their data......and still being unable to correct it. Now, lets talk about not getting paid to correct errors the agent did not cause.
These same 'colllusionist' should make available a no-syndication option and thereby restoring agent responsibility without the current multiple waivers and disclosures BROKERS/Association require.
Meanwhile, lets do Zdevils thing and call it all MARKETING.

Yes it is. It could be a violation of the REALTOR Code of Ethics which, among other things, calls for truth in advertising.
This kind of incorrect information is one of the things that gives the publice a reason to be critical of real estate agents.

I think the rules for accurately reporting anything have fallen by the wayside these days...
To answer your question, the magazine should publish accurate information and should require information submitted to it to be accurate.

There are two questions asked here:
"Do the same rules apply to printed”coffee table” magazines?
"Is this misleading the public?"
Since it does mislead, the same rules can apply. Licensing groups and Associations that oversee such things would likely have a process for reporting and remediating such things that are within their jurisdiction.

Accuracy in any business in so very important. The County can get it wrong too. A home was recorded at 3,052 square feet when built and was appraised at 2,601 square feet - sheesh! How do you explain that one to your clients?!
