I frankly find the case without merit, but that never stops a suit from being filed.  I have used targeted ads and I've NEVER had the choice of race, religion or ethnic background to pick from.  I can chose by age... which doesn't mean I discriminate, but I also don't know any 13 year olds who have been emancipated and are in the market to buy a house, so I didn't want to waste my advertising dollars with 13 to 17 year olds seeing my ads... they likely aren't in the market to buy a home.  I also have used income as a factor because again... if you can't afford a home you probably don't want to see my ads. The only other thing I've ever seen a choice of is geographical locations and sex and frankly if I want to target women buyers and make that my niche but am not unfairly discriminating to men then it is NOT discrimination.

They've already made a new advertising center for anyone who does housing ads or anything related to it.  I don't think targetted online advertising will go away, it'll just be far less useful now.

Should Facebook be charged for offering services to target an audience or should the agents that discriminated against demographics be the ones held accountable for their actions and violations of Fair Housing Laws?

What else does the government have to do? Representing the people isn't on their agenda! 

I still long for the day when I can disconnect frrom everything 'Internet'!

I have not been able to keep up with all the stuff concerning social media Buzz Mackintosh but this seems to be a good thing to me.

No surprise - everyone is going after FB. The government may as well add to the ridiculousness! 

Maybe we should appoint Rober Mueller to investigate.  Currently he has nothing to do.

Yes, I have heard it, and I am not surprised. I have not done targeted ads on Facebook, but it seems like a huge oversight on their part.

I had not heard that, but I'm not surprised it's come to this.

Just took a refresher CE class on the RE Code of Ethics.  Damn near everything in the Code on the subject of "tageting" is considered discrimination these days.  It's a slippery slope to be sure.

That's a bit of a stretch but this is what long drawn out court cases & big settlements are made of. Get too big & they'll want a piece of your pie. 

Yes, target marketing seems like it was discrimination. Not just housing but in jobs and credit cards offers etc

I can no longer target home owners for my homeowner ads.
