I have not put clients in my car for years and years. And I never will. Think about risk management and the liability.

There is a case out there of an agent who got involved in an accident which resulted in his client's nine year-old daughter getting killed, and everyone else survived.

Think about all the distractions that go on in your car nowadays as you drive. Your phone is ringing, people are texting you, your GPS is talking to you, you check the MLS listing sheet as you look for the listing for sale, and add passengers that may be talking to you at the same time, while watching the traffic and driving....

I can't remember the last time a buyer met me at the office. Either they drive themselves from where ever they are starting or I'm picking them up somewhere (usually a hotel for relo buyers).

We meet in a public or office setting for an initial consultation.  After they are preapproved for a mortgage or provide proof of funds, we arrange showings.  We meet at the first property.

I don't drive buyers around.  There are many reasons.  Liability.  Enough said about that.  Having buyers in their car lets them talk between showings without me being present.  We meet at the next property, talk about the previous property and rank it with others we looked at.  It works very well.

The older I get, the more I want to meet them there. There is something stressful about having them in the car, especially when I am showing houses in unfamiliar areas.

Last week I had a scientist buyer who insisted he and his wife ride with me. "Why are you turning here? You should go down three blocks." "The speed limit here is 45. You're doing 47." "I don't even want to get out of the car to look. The next door neighbor has three cars in the driveway."

That may speak more to the buyer, but it was a stressful day.

Both - most of the time I prefer to meet at the office and ride together. When that is not logistically practical for the client, we meet at the property.

I pretty much do what works best for the clients. I these days of car seats,  or pets,  or "control"  or worries about liability and safety, some  prefer to take their own car. I don't insist on any.

I enjoy riding together so we can talk as we go.

I meet buyers at the listing.  I had not had anyone in my vehicle in years, until recently.  If it is the first time I am meeting with them, I usually get there early and always let someone know where I am - then check in so they know I am safe.

Depends.  Usually at the listing, if it's one of mine.  If it's a buyer I'm working with (as opposed to a sign call) then we typically follow each other or ride in the same vehicle, if appropriate.

We always meet at either the office or a public place for the initial conference then drive separately. I can't remember the last time I had buyers in my car.

For years I had them ride with me but the last straw was when I had out of state buyers here a few years ago. One brought a portable GPS and would put in the address of each listing then proceed to tell me "turn here, go there". It drove me crazy since I knew better routes to take and made for a long day. That may have been the last time I had buyers in my car!

Both - if they are local and are just meeting me after work to tour one or two homes, we typically both drive - sometimes both spouses and me in 3 separate cars.

If they are relocating and her for the week or weekend, they ride with me unless they have two or more kids - then they follow me.
