Black-eyed pea and greens. Done right they are a great way to start a new year.

My tradition, based on historic gratitude, is black-beans and cornbread. Although jazzed up to be palatable, it is about remembrance, gratitude and thanksgiving.

I have made a huge pot of them and we had them last night and tonight

Mine is from an old recipe called Hoppin Johns! it is Ham and veggies and good broth with the black eyed peas! Delicious! 

I also packed up portions for my office and they will eat them too! we do this every year! 

Good luck and good fortune will find you if you eat Black eyed peas for New Years! 

you do know the wheat won't grow if you dont eat pumpkin pies for thanksgiving....right?
