Why did they have it 3 days? Did they just space out and forget to put it back? Or were they trying to prevent showings from others? I think when you find out the reason you'll know what to do. PS. ALWAYS have an extra key in your office for just this occasion.

We always make 'an extra' key, for situations that you described.  Especially if the seller is not in town or in the same state, it can be difficult (unless if a neighbor has a key, which does happen) to get in to check the Sign-In Book, if you use one Valeria Mola, to see who the last agent viewing the house was.

Contact the agent and if that isn't leading to any success, contact the Principal Broker to inform her/him about their agent's practices. May need to contact the Miami/Dade Cty Board &/or the FL Real Estate Commission about it. I know it is not convenient on your behalf, but maybe even go to the agent's house and get the key back or take your pound of flesh from him/her.

I had that happen once.  The agent had a competing listing in the same building. I spent the greater part of a day finding out who had the key. Turns out, it was someone I know and there was not a "good" history there. They had the key for 9 days before it was discovered.

I had an extra key for the condo but not for the front door to the building. The clients lived out of the area.

I filed a complaint with the Board.  No consequences for their actions.

We always have a few keys for the property.

With supra was easy to find the agent.

Key were returned by that agent yesterday. She took the key to be able to show on weekend property to her husband and workers ( her broker opened Supra).

No offer was made.

How lovely.

There is no fine in Miami Association for removing keys from Supra or Lockbox. That question I have asked yesterday in one of the branch.

Would I work with this agent in the future? Probably not.

With Supra you can check the showing data and it will disclose who was the last agent to show the property.  We always keep a "spare key" for each of our listings so we are never in a position of not having our properties available for showings.

I've had it happen but never for 3 days. One of the benefits of scheduled showings though the first agent that finds that the key is missing you then know (pretty certainly) that agent scheduled just before them is the agent who has the key in their pocket and you can just call them directly Valeria Mola
