Over the years I figured out the brokerage has to work for the agents, not the other way around.

I wish I had spent more time talking with brokers.  Too bad I was not a member of AR. Would have learned a lot.  You have a few good answers listed here.  Honestly, figure out what you want, need and expect. before choosing a brokerage.

Interview several brokers.  I would not work for a selling brtoker.  Look for a broker who has an open door policy. who is there for his agents when they need him/her, a Broker who will back up his agents, who is forward thining and in tune with the latest technoclogy to assist agents.  Talk with agents within the Brokerage.

And until you do try, you won't get the right one.

All the guidelines for what to 'look for in a broker' are FALSE.

You really only need to know two things. The list of 21 attributes is a transgression on common sense.

Write down what are important to you and rank them.  Then ask as many brokerages as you want how they addressed certain things.  See whether their answers are in line with your priorty.  More importantly talk the the agents in that brokerage and ask what they like and dislike there, why they select this brokerage, whether they fall short on their promises etc.

Arianna Kokol don't be razzeled dazzeled. For me I want to know where they are coming from morally. Do they approach real estate law and ethics with an attitude that this is just common sense or do they view them as obstacles and here is how you skirt around them?

BTW, I've known a few married Real Estate agents that chose to work for different brokers and it worked out well for them.

When starting out, I would recommend making sure that they will support you as new agents. Many peolpe look at commission splits, but if you are not closing deals, splits don't matter. There will come a time to negotiate splits, but I would recommend doing that after you have learned the business.

Also, as you market, promote you and your team, not the broker. This was if you change brokers it will be as seamless as possible.
