Karyn Norton we know you are in class and have to ask questions but please understand that if you get a rude answer or two it's because we get asked this question over and over again. We would all appreciate it if you would ask your professor "how lame is this that you make us annoy the people at this blog site instead of doing the job we pay you to do".

"Work for?" You must be looking for the real estate office receptionist site. Agents are not typically "working for" a broker but are usually independent contractors. PS: forget about those company paid vacations, salary increases, paid health care, etc. Sorry about the bubble bursting. It's in the information you obviously haven't read. Study hard, take lots of practice tests...

#1 - An independent contractor (YOU, when you're licensed) does not WORK FOR a broker!
#2 - What is important to you? That's what you want to seek in a broker with whom you will eventually hang your license.

I suggest the so-called real estate school instructor update the required to ask question in the AR Q&A.
Agents do not work for brokers. Agents are independent contractors.
It is not what is important to me that matters.
What matters is what is important to you.
I wish you all the best with your real estate studies and in your real estate career.

This question has been asked and answered hundreds of times here... check back on previous responses. By the way, you do not work FOR a broker if you are an agent. You are an independent contractor.

You will be working for yourself and will hang a license at a brokerage. As an independent contractor, it is important for you to interview several offices to determine a good fit!

Select the office that will best meet your personal needs.
I prefer to be surrounded by highly successful people.
Be wary of bad advice from your instructor. You will have to think for yourself in this business.

There are NO qualities you can assess regarding a broker while seated at the office desk.
What you should do is be objective, not subjective, in such an evaluation. You will get more reliable data simply assessing height and weight than trying to determine which lie to believe the broker is telling.
There are only two questions to which you need an answer. From those two everything else can be determined....by the facts.

Most definitely someone with Patience- and...
This question comes up a lot & that's because we all want to start off on the right foot when we enter the business. As a new Agent I'd be looking for something different than an experienced agent would be. I'd look for a Broker who's knowledgeable & willing to share that to help develop you into the best agent you can be. Someone who is well respected in the industry because they may need to go to bat for you one day. Someone who is not competing with you for listings & is dedicated to developing the company & it's agents 1st. Qualities like that.

There are MANY, location and key clients are one or two of many. Time; does the broker have time to hold your hand while you learn the business, etc.
1,045,900
It depends greatly on what your goals and personal business model are about. Never forget that a brokerage and an agent have VERY different business models. Karyn Norton

As others have stated, we see this question every few days, and is really lame. You do not "work for" a broker.
5,108,201
Move to Denver, Colo and come to work with me and you will be happy for what I do for my agents.
3,761,424
If you are a new agent, you need a solid training program, and I don't mean having the broker pawn you off on an "experienced" agent to mentor you. That usually means you learn some really bad habits much sooner than if you were picking them up on your own!
