I virtually never have the latest of anything. My Samsung Galaxy is always one or two "generations" behind. But I don't keep till it dies... it starts slowing down long before that and I need to depend on it.

Although I love the idea of having the latest and greatest, why spend $1k when my current phone does the job? So I try to wait until the gadget dies or I've at least gotten a good life out of it.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 6. Keeping it until the battery no longer charges. No smart watch. Tablet, yes but mostly for watching t.v. lol. John brings it to closings for easy access to files, but otherwise we don't use it for work. We both have laptops. No other super gadgets.

Pretty gadgety but, I will say that I just went from a 6S to an X - all because of battery life and issues with function. I typically keep them until I can't keep them plugged in 24/7 to charge! LOL
I don't have a watch and am absolutely shocked that my hubby hasn't gotten me one yet! I refuse to buy one for myself but, I do have the latest MacBook Pro and 2 iPads (one for me, one for clients).
Any time one of my assistant's MacBook Pro dies, I get the new one and give them my 1-2 year old version!

Tammy,
Ron is replacing his 6 S. It is definitely slowing down...My iPad needed a new battery ,$99. When we went to have the new battery, Apple chose to give me a new one for $99. It was five years old, and I will not be replacing it soon. We have to replace our traveling air after 8 years, it was very slow and crazy! No watches for either one of us. Our Macs are 6 years old, and still chugging along to our satisfaction. A

I would say when it starts giving me trouble. I don't think I ever needed a watch or even an Ipad now with my phone. There was a post I was just reading yesterday that there is a new Ipad coming out Monday or so. Some people were saying they haven't even started their Ipad in years.

I don't have the latest anything. I'm the one who has no i-anything...
What I do have serves me well though. My HP laptop is about 4 years old. My Motorola E4 phone died a few months ago so I've got a new one of them.
That said, I do like apps that help me. YouMail for phone messaging (into my email), MySMS for text messages (I can access on my computer, too), Evernote and some others. They're free or less than about $50/yr, which I'm OK with (for now).

I have a iPad 4 (the first one with the Retina display), I've had it for nearly 6 years and still works well, only once did I have to take it in for repair. My MacBook Pro is about 5 years old and never had a problem.
I have a $50. Motorola smart phone that does what a good Android should do, never an issue for the past 3-4 years.

Smart Phone- about a year old, Tablets- yes, because I can multi-task while on my phone, Laptops- because I need to go mobile sometimes & Computer at home- yes.
Like the idea of the Watch (hint, hint- Christmas is coming) because if your phones in the other room charging & a client calls you'll get notified. You can go get your phone & take their call. Used to have that functionality on my FitBit but that product didn't even last 1 year.
I don't run out & buy the newest product the day it hits the market.

Very! I love the newest technology if it comes from Apple. Super die hard Apple fan here!
I have an iPhone7 plus. I got Tristan the X for Christmas last year and I am looking forward to getting one. But I want to get the watch first.
Nestor has the newsest iPad and loves it! It is so intuitive.
I still have my 2009 Mac Book Pro because it is a 17 inch and Apple no longer makes their mac books in 17 inches.
We have 2 iMacs.
I do need to get another mac book pro even though it will only be 15 inches because I can't record FB lives with the older technology.
But I will tell you- before we switched to macs in 2008, I was replacing PCs every 2 years!

I'm still using a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a tablet of the same age. They still do their jobs and I'm not willing to drop close to 2k for Liz and I to upgrade our phones just to be a little faster. When they start causing me more trouble than I can justify, then I'll swap them out. But in the interim adding a memory card and new batteries to each was all I needed to do.

Tammy, I just gave up my 6s for a 10. I guess I've had the 6s for 4 years. Not chasing shiny objects. I just upgrade when mine is no longer getting the job done. I kept my 4 for about 4 years. I even changed the battery in that one. It was a good phone. I had my Treo before that one from 2004-2009. It was held together with tape by the end. No Apple watch, fitbit (though I had one), etc. I do have a new iPad. The old one wasn't keeping up.

A few weeks ago, my Iphone 6 was giving me enough problems that I knew I needed to replaced it. The new IPhone Xs came out, however, when I went to the Apple store with the intent of buying last year’s IPhone X. They told me they sold their last one a few days before. I ended up buying the latest model, and even bought the IPhone XsMax for much more than I intended to spend. . A few weeks later, Apple released a much cheaper version, the IPhone XR. I should have waited!

Even though my background is tech, I'm not a "shiny new thing" kinda guy. I research the heck out of something and keep it until it breaks or no longer meets my needs. Phones I typically go 4 years. Cars 11 years. I do have a couple tablets, they were very low end when I bought them a few years ago but for displaying documents and watching movies on long flights they are perfect.
No smart watches for me, the prices are too high and I haven't worn a watch in over 20 years. No desire to start now.
