I can guarantee you that it's not Google doing the spoofing.  Google is too big, too busy, to worry about you.  You're being spoofed by someone who says they're Google, but they're not.

I did just get a robo call from a robot (I think) selling life insurance. The voice promised a great deal and I only needed to answer one question to get started. How old am I? I said 96. The voice said, "Can you repeat that?". I said 96. The call disconnected!

It is not Google doing this. These are crooked businesses doing this using scare tactics. They called my chiropractor who I do the marketing for. They left a message telling him that if he did not call them back by 4 p.m. they would have to delete his google my business listing. His GMB page is #1 on google and he gets a ton of business from it, so he called me freaking out. I told him it was a scam but that i would call the company for him. 

I called the company - I said : so you are google? 

They said, no we are a certified partner of google. 

I said, what is wrong with the listing xxx , they started to say this or that... 

I said, I would like to talk to your supervisor because it is against the law here in Florida to misrepresent yourself and to lie and threaten to take down a google listing. 

The guy hung up on me. I then looked up the company and they were in the UK. I still turned them into our state attorney general office because I can just imagine how scared people will open their wallets so quicly to get robbed. 

But, it wasn't Google, Joan! It was someone who SAID they were with Google! Yes, I get them all of the time and they are using local numbers too. Drives me batty!

I identify so many callers as Spam.

Oh wow, Joan... that is not a problem I've had. Or should I say "had yet?"

We get those calls every day.

The last time Google called us, we were in Miami navigating through a bad storm.  I asked them never to call us again, and they listened! LOL A

      Google is becoming increasingly bad.  They are the worst monopoly in world history.  They control search, Android, YouTube, everything else tech.   

Anyone who calls me with a spoofed number gets a lecture on why I dont deal with dishonest salespeople who call from fake numbers.

I never answer my phone unless the # is already in it these days, I get more google and robo calls than anything. If they start masking my known #'s, I'll simply stop answering all together. 90% of my clients TEXT more than they ever call anymore.

Have I gotten Spam calls that said they were from numbers I know... yes.  Are you getting spam calls from Google Business?  No, you aren't.  They don't call people. Scammers and SEO businesses call people and say they can't get you on the front page of Google, but take my word for it that Google isn't calling you anymore than the IRS is.

I’ve been getting a few strange calls....my rule is to not answer any strange numbers, if they want me they will leave a message, if not call it spam.

I have gotten a spam call from MY OWN number. That was pretty weird.

PS- Google Business isn't call you.  Or anyone else.

if I don't recognize the number, and they don't leave a message, I don't answer or return the call.... when I do answer it's junk calls... rarely answer unless it's a local number....

I don't have clients anymore, so I can get away with that routine!! I market with the team number...

I have a "contact" in my Contacts list called DNA (Do Not Answer)... every call that comes in which I determine to be a SPAM caller/ ROBO ect... goes into this list.  When I see DNA pop up, I know not to waste my time... my folder has probably close to 200 numbers in it... I didn't really start getting as many as I seem to now, until I had downloaded NoMorobo app.  The app wasn't working for me... I got rid of it and since then I've had more than I care to mention... :(

I don't get that though I do get local calls with phone numbers that are close. I haven't yet had one that was in my phone or number that I knew that was a robo call. But I get a ton of robo calls each day, it's ridiculous. -K

I am also receiving these calls about "my Google Business Listing". 

If I don't know who is calling I don't answer.

No. But I'm getting a lot of calls from "Apple'' which i'm blocking since they are spam.

I think the news was reporting by 2020 or 2024 nearly 40% of phone calls will be solicitation/robo calls.

That's very interesting Joan Cox but I don't think it's Google it self. I get no less than 5 robo calls every day claiming to be Google services and they show a different number. Some have been local and most are out of State... all robo calls.

Its not Google, its a guy saying he works for Google indirectly ( a lie)

You should sell the HVAC person a home or list his home. If he hangup you know.

I got a call from what I thought was my office, right number and image, and when I answered it was a sales call from an agent directory company.

I get website, credit card and political spam calls all of the time. The ones that I especially dislike are the ones that come from what looks to be a local area number. By now, all of those should be used up seeing as there are only the last 4 digits to chose from.

I don't think it's google...google doesn't call.  It's probably someone else spoofing them, spoofing google or both.

No, I am not getting those calls.  However, if I did I would not for one second believe it was Google.

Agreed with Alan May Google is more law abiding than this.  It's most likely people trying to sell the #1 ranking or pretending to be google to get your login info
