They waste time by not managing their time.  Need a daily schedule broken down in 15 or 30 minute blocks.  2-3 hours of prospecting should be part of that daily schedule.  Also you don't need to check email or Face Book every 5 minutes.

Have 3 goals for the week, your 3 top priority business goals and schedule your week on Sunday to accomplish them. Do not check your emails until you've accomplished one goal task in the morning.

I'm afraid that after so many years, I'm pretty much in auto-pilot, so I don't think in terms of tricks or tips. But one thing I always do is start early in the day and take no calls before 8:30am... that's my quiet time to get certain things done without distraction. I also find that when you decide on what your workday will be, you get things done during the course of that time frame. In my case, it's 6-6:30 weekdays and 7-4:30 weekends.

Andrew,

This has not been a problem for us.  We don't have a time management issue, unless we have a last minute request from our clients and it is a deadline...but again, our team is very responsive because this is not a common occurence.  A

those who waste time are not being trained and mentored... they're waiting for the mountain to come to Mohamad.... not likely until there's significant training....

Time block your day... If it's not blocked into your calendar, it's never going to happen.  2-3 hrs for lead generation is a must.

They waste time with unqualified buyers.  Qualifty all buyers first.  Remember the 80/20 rule.  Get rid of the 80.

Have a plan and work it.  No distractions.  One must have the discipline to focus. I am one to turn the ringer on my phones off.  YES, I do that for blocks of time so that I am not distracted and can focus on getting done what needs to get done!!!  No one has ever died from me doing that.

The hardest thing to figure out is who is the tire kicker & who is the true buyer? You will spend endless hours on the person who is wasting your time. Asking good questions of them is the best way to determine motivation.

We can all sit here & say I remember this guy .....

Interesting question as time invested is the ante for anything worthy...I know that what is put in comes out and that things of value require labor commitment. Real Estate is an opportunity driven dynamic so be prepared to invest and not see a return making the returns that come-in worthwhile and educational to boot. Throw in some luck and God's blessing & anything goes if we are willing to go too

Time management is a myth. We control neither the orbit or rotation of the earth.

One can only manage their tasks.

So, the real question becomes. "What SHOULD you be doing?"

A brand new agent will receive a mountain of invalid directions from those who forgot the situation of a brand new agent.
