It's a combination of both (listings/solds & educational/advice) - it's all real estate or local information on my websites.
Here on ActiveRain, my posts are far more diverse.

It's a mix of everything, including local events, testimonials, informational posts. I really don't do much on just listed and sold on my primary blog. I do it here.

Since we no longer are active in transactions except by choice or referrals, we educate and throw in a bit of fun also. A

When I blog on my own site, it is about neighborhoods, stats and listings. Some educational posts too.

I use the same type topics as in ActiveRain. Listings, neighborhoods and FAQs.

It's mostly about my listings/sales, although I do source content from other providers and usually post 5-10 articles a month that pertain to the real estate market/sales and have the right message for my site. No posts about Tarek and Christina's latest feud or any of the junk that the National Enquirer should sending out, not NAR!

Depends on the blog platform because focus is not all the same. We have a Me In Maine blog that is just local community, statewide what is it like living here. But the real estate portal on one of our business blogging platforms varies on help with financing, explaining the real estate process and the local trend in our market mixed with anything we think will be of value and help the busy buyer or seller who stops in to graze. Not look what we listed or sold focused. The websites have those areas covered for whoever cares to study the new inventory or sale stats along with testimonials.

When I was an active agent / property manager I wrote about anything that would enhance my image as the local real estate expert.

I aim for a mixture of property updates and educational posts, and probably succeed over the long term, but often have many of one type at once.

Blog content is directed at one of the five important decisons everyone must make every year.
Making a real estate decision does not fall into those categories. However, there is a great big fat real estate button for when that once in 10 years situation occurs.
