I have not heard any local AirBNB horror stories. I have heard about problems in the AirBNB universe.

The fact that the house in on Snickersville Turnpike did ellicit a snicker from me.

I don't like short term rentals and try to avoid dealing with it.

Interesting.  I'd probably have called the cops first, but from a firearm policy stand point I don't see the issue.  Broken windows and blood on the floor, that's enough reason to assume someone's life is in danger and a possible threat to your own life.  I'd draw down too.  Detaining suspects at gun point also seems legit in this case.

No shortage of horror stories when dealing with tenants.

We do only VRBO rentals on our Florida properties that are totally occupied by our tenants. In our area it has been pretty smooth.

Vacation rental horror stories have been around long before airb+b

I have heard many stories.  

I've used AirBNB in other areas and never had a problem.

In terms of this story, so the guy goes to his own property and comes upon 12 people and blood, broken glass, and HE gets arrested for pulling a gun to keep those people there and they don't? It sounds like we might be missing information - that just doesn't make sense.

Not heard of any horror stories about AirBNB so this is a surprise to me Jeff Pearl.

YES, parents who rented for 4 teenage girls who through one heck of a party. Wrecked the place. And yes, i would call the police. 

It's rare to find an air-BNB in my area....the closest would be on Cape Cod.... 

UNBELIEVABLE. They destroy his house he pulls a gun to keep them there till the cops can get there and he goes to jail and they don't get charged? SMFH

We've had several incidents in our Condo Community, but nothing like this one. Unfortunately, while Community has rules against them, Airbnb refuses to do anything to stop inappropriate & illegal activities... Terrible organization.

Isn't real estate synonymous with horror stories?

Actually, in my slice of paradise, where the goal of the entitled is to keep everyone else off of our neighborhood sand, the horror stories are created by the neighbors not the renters.

I expect to read a headline created because a brazen neighbor confronted a brazen renter and chaos ensued.

Too many old folks want it to remain 1969.
