When I add new agents to my team they shadow me. When they're ready to take the lead, I shadow them before letting them fly solo.

No, I don't think harly anyone in my city wants to be an investment specialist. They would rather shadow someone who does listings.

I've been approached by many people wanting to become a realtor and want to know what being a realtor is like. They didn't ask about shadowing, just a verbal conversation. Everytime when I asked why they would like to be a realtor most said because of the flexible schedule and how they can get money easy.
People with this mindset will not last long being a realtor. Our schedule is somewhat flexible. With this hot seller's market, I often have to drop everything just to show my buyer new homes that just hit the market. If I don't the homes are gone and the buyer is going to blame me for not being available.
Realtors also work really hard. Many things that we do are behind the scene and we put so much hours to take care of our clients and the transactions. It's like eating in a restaurant. The consumer only knows that they order the food and that it's good. The restaurant has to purchase the ingredients, keep them fresh, clean and prepare the ingredients before cooking, have the right recipe, food is nicely plated, create a nice ambiance, and so forth.

I have recruited Agents for my company. Although I am not the Broker I still provide those agents with support but it isn't in the form of shadowing me. I am there to provide advice, answer questions & I'll give them leads or opportunities that I can not take myself. I like to see new Agents succeed.

What is given freely is perceived as having the value they paid.

I did that consistently with my new construction meetings.... there was always someone sitting in and paying attention....and then we'd discuss the conversations after the meeting was over and we were alone.... it needed to make sense and that was the time for questions to be asked.... a good learning experience with every meeting and there were hundreds and hundreds of them....

Once. A client studying for her real estate license went with me on showings long ago. I instructed her to follow and observe QUIETLY, and write down any questions to ask at the end. I knew after that I would never take her on. She talked more than she listened. It was not meant to be anyway. She never did pass her tests. LOL
