The described initiative is not guaranteed to be on the November ballot. We are dealing with a complex issue which is of great interest to homeowners who might be affected by a change in the existing tax law. Opposition exists in the quarters of government agencies and communities who believe that they would be adversely affected by the change.

We need to get through the June election before we worry too much about the November ballot contents.

 I will be voting tomorrow---and that's all I am sharing.

13 is a lucky number

We have a tax cap in our city which limits taxes and growth in government. Some where and some time, politicians have to set aside party and do what is right for the people. I would like to see budgets and departments redone, shuffled and cut waste at the local level. Our new Governor is doing it at the state level and we have massive surpluses and a soaring economy. At the local level politics stifles some towns as spending is out of control

Prop 13 saved home owners in California.  I would vote to protect it.  I just can't believe that they continue adding billion dollar bonds on the ballot and they still pass.  I was once told to look at the cars on the freeway and see how much money in taxes drives by.  Where did the lottery money go that was supposed to only for schools?

not being in California and never planning to be, do not plan to study the issue to determine how I *might* vote.

I was in high school in Anaheim with Prop 13 passed originally. All sort of doom and gloom was advertised should it pass - and none of that came to fruition. I remember our teachers all talking about how school funding would be drastically cut should it pass - and it didn't happen. When one avenue to tax dries up, another is found. Or if one is expanded, how often do politicians cut back on another source? 

As a non-Californian, I think this could start leading a life of its own with all sorts of unintended consequences. And I don't know what middle class means in California these days... I suspect it's very different from NC.

California is one wacky state with even wackier politicians!

Perhaps they need to amend and remove the cap at $2,000,000 for residential homes so our dear Hollywood celebs and tech magnates can pay their fair share.  

I would also like to see a new tax on walled mansions in California as it is so non-inclusive.

The problem is not the tax rate as it is almost the exact same in Indiana, and our property taxes in Indiana are very LOW as the housing is very, very affordable.

I'm for expanding the tax base transfer to all counties.  Looking forward to tomorrow's vote too!

where I live only has a freeze on accessment past age 70 which I totally agree with, but I don't think it should be for anyone not selling a home.  That's just crazy.

It was an insane proposition when introduced - government meddling in the free market economy. I lived there at the time it was passed.  It is part of why California has such high income tax rates.
