It depends on the situation. I have only one car but not only one alternative.

I don't run late, ever... not in my dna. Have never had a car that has broken down; flat tire, yes a couple of times. There's always my husband's car to use if mine would be out of commission for any reason.

My hubby's vehicle - in fact, I had to drive it a few weeks ago! The dealership gave me a loaner and I wasn't fond of that car so, I parked it in the garage and took hubby's car!

I guess it depends on where it happens.
In front of the house I'm hoping to list? Quick call to AAA and then run in to take care of my meeting.
In front of my house? Take someone else's vehicle.
On the way? I'd probably have to call, explain the situation and reschedule. Life happens.

I own a farm and have pickup, other vehicles that can be whipped into the transportation pool but jeeps I use don't stop ticking as a rule. In the small town I service, it is easy to hoof two blocks to show. Carrying signs, all the camera equipment for a listing ... not done so much.

Flat tire, I am changing it myself. Breaks down, maybe the wrecker can drop me off at they tow my car to the shop. Other than that, maybe drop off my wife and take her vehicle, or I have to cancel for the day.

I had a flat on a saturday afternoon after showing properties. Of course I had another showing lined up for first thing in the morning the next Sunday. Luckily, I was able to find a shop open late on a Saturday night that went out of their way to get the right tires for my vehicle. My alternate plan was to pick up a rental for the day.

I lease so I don't have to worry about the car breaking down, when I have a flat tire, I call Mercedes Benz and they pick up my car and I get a loaner car until mine is fixed.

The dealership also gives me a loaner car.
Flat tire - AAA Roadsevvice
Dead Battery - AAA Roadservice
Thankfully, these issues have not interfered with appointments.

Paul,
One could use Uber or Lyft. That being said, it has not ever happened to me. One time Ron was badly rear-ended, and I gave him my car. Then drove his to the body shop, and they set up a rental of a similar car for me. That is the only instance in 20 years of practice. A

I have my car mechanic on speed dial and responds faster than AAA. He understands the importance and keeps both my cars in tip top shape. I am probably his best client.. constantly sending him new customers. I am well cared for!
And if necessary I call my daughter.

I do have a second car but if I can't get to it, what good would that do? AAA to the rescue but once, I got stuck in sand and it took them over two hours to get to me. Yes, we have rural areas. I've never been late to a listing appointment for any reason, give myself plenty of time just in case.

Borrow another agent from the office to drive me, or my mountain bike or hybrid road-bike... Uber, or Enterprise Car Rental.

Flat tire can be changed out in 10 minutes, so that's not an issue. A major breakdown; I would call a cab.
I have the phone numbers of the local Taxi companies in my smartphone contacts. I keep a couple of hundred in $5's and $10's in my glovebox. If I just had to be somewhere immediately, I'd call a taxi, and pay them in cash.
AAA is also in my contacts, if the car needs towing.
